I got a fantastic deal on a Sig sr556mono (less than the tax stamp) but that thing is a pig!!! I was debating on either pining it to a 10.5 barrel but not sure I really want to do that. My other thought was to put it on a lighter weight barrel either a pencil (probably too light) or a hanson or gunner profile. The suppressor is probably every bit of a solid pound hanging on the end. I'm not expecting a 1/2 moa gun but I dont want a massive amount of shift with the barrel heating up or removing the can.

I would like to ideally have a 16" gun that's fairly light that I can throw the can but still have the base rifle nice and light. The can will probably stay on the gun but come off for some matches here and there as it's a direct thread.

I am still fairly new to the nfa world and dont want to waste any of my hard earned funds.

TLDR; can a hanson or gunner barrel profile support a 1lb can without any adverse effects?

It is compared to my little 22 or cans! Haha! I suppose I exaggerated a bit and the can feels alot heavier in my hand than it looks on paper. Probably just my mind playing tricks on me.

I use a SF 7.62SOCOMRC2 on everything. My 14.5 KAC Carbine wears it, all the way up to my 7.62 gassers and my GAP-10 in 6.5CM.
I’m so used to it now, I don’t even notice it. I see less than 1moa shift on my 14.5. That is a very standard lighter profile barrel.
I find a little heavier but stock tends to balance them out really well. On everything but my 14.5”, I’m using a Magpul PRS stock. I like how it balances out the weight on the front end. For me, it’s not overall weight as much as how it balances.
I’m 6’ tall and 212lbs, so I’m not huge, but not tiny either. Balance is a bigger deal for me on my rifles.
