Hunting & Fishing Little Flat Head from Santee Cooper

Took some overdue time off with my dad this past weekend for some slower paced fishing in lower SC. This was the best cat of the trip. I tried to take a photo of him and the runts he caught but he threatened to throw the camera overboard.

I can't seem to get my dad in that mode. We caught a few but I had to listen to him complain about how they tangle everything up. They weren't caught by choice. The bite was really bad last week. The prior week it was off the chart........too bad we weren't there for that.
Oh well. That trip is more about spending time with the old man than fishing for me. I do whatever he wants.

Looks like fun. The trot lines and brush hooks have been producing good for us the last few weeks. Southern summer fun and a good time with dad!

I saw a 50 pounder with the belly still in tact but tossed out with the rubble. I got pissed but then had to smile.

Yup, most peple don't know that the flattie belly is so good. Any other cat the belly is nasty. Doubtful many folks would go to the trouble of filleting the bellies even if they know it's good.

Sort of like some of the deer carcasses we see around here. Dead deer with only the backstraps removed. Pisses me off everytime I see it.
