Made it to the range on Sunday to sight in my new LMT Defender and my Eotech SU-231/PEQ (Model 553) and had nothing but feeding issues.
Every time the spent round would eject properly but the bolt would not strip the following round, the bolt would slam home empty causing me to manually re-cycle the bolt to strip the next round.
At first I thought it could be a magazine issue, I had started out using my P-Mags which I found unusually tightfitting, which I am not too concerned or surprised by, I then switched to my Brownells and my D&H mages all fit perfectly but same problem. Each time I had to re-cycle the bolt.
I thought it could be my ammunition as I was using crap American Eagle Tactical 55gr. So switched to Winchester 65gr. same issue, each time I had to re-cycle. Since it was a new rifle I thought it might be a bolt issue so I switched out the bolt with the bolt from my Novice… same issue.
Needless to say I am at a loss at what’s causing the issue… I am thinking it could be a miss aligned gas port causing a short stroke but its ejecting the spent round? Otherwise, I didn’t do a good enough job de-greasing/ cleaning the rifle prior to taking it to the range for the first time. I have multiple LMT’s and never had a single issue like this.
