Frank's Lesson's Contest
We want to see your skills! Post a video between now and November 1st showing what you've learned from Frank's lessons and 3 people will be selected to win a free shirt. Good luck everyone!
Any one else have loads for the comp match? I've been fireforming with 47.5 RL 26 and getting 3200 with 1/2 -3/4 min accuracy. I loaded up some formed cases but couldn't get good accuracy above 3200.
I used 45.0GR of rl26 and get 3140fps with nosler RDF's, barrel was FAST from the first day and is holding true at 1k plus rounds down the tube. Going to 115dtacs to take advantage of the free speed. 24" tube btw.
I feel very "preachy" saying this, but all of that extra speed that RL26 delivers seems to come a quite a barrel life expense. I was running it in an SLR with 115 DTACs at 3140 fps. The charge was 46.3 grains and I annihilated my barrel after 1600 rounds. The first 600 rounds on that barrel were 48.4 grains of H1000 pushing the same DTAC at 2990 fps. Barrel length was 26". I'm on 6 SLR barrel number two shooting 110 SMKs at 3085 fps and a lighter charge of RL26 to burn the rest of it up before I go back to H1000. I'm only at about 200 rounds right now. Be warned!
To remain on topic, a friend of mine is running 47.7 grains of H1000 and the 110 SMK jumped 0.060" at an easy 3040 fps out of his 6 Comp Match. He's close to 2000 rounds and it's still going strong. That load really hasn't deviated much since he found it. The barrel isn't showing any signs of excessive wear. Some local guys are using ~45-ish grains H4831sc with excellent barrel life and velocity reports as well.
