Looking for a good heavy duty sling

Do you have to have leather? Is it merely for lugging it around? Will it serve a more functional purpose?

The Rifle's Only Bungee Sling works great and is easily adjustable for positional shooting.

I use the TIS Slip Cuff QD. The cuff can cinch on the arm and clips on and off the sling. At just under 1.5" wide, it's quite comfortable on the arm and can handle any stick I have put it on.

17 pounds isn't overly heavy. Same weight as most of my rifles and the above slings work just fine.
I just went through the "I need a sling" dilemma. It was a very tough choice but I ended up buying the rifle only bungee. It seems to be the best of everything sling,. Incorporating unique features of all the other slings on the market. I will say it is a quality made product but you pay for it.

I run the Rifles Only Carbine sling, though the precision rifle one might be better, but I've only ever used the carbine version.
