Looking for a magnetic option to stabilize barrels inside a safe

I'm getting a safe shortly. In addition to my long rifles, I have some AR-15 SBRs which wont fit into the standard height safe racks. I'm looking for something like the Lockdown Magnetic Barrel Rest (https://www.amazon.com/LOCKDOWN-222177-Magnetic-Barrel-Rest/dp/B004RQPM2O) to use inside the safe to hold the SBRs. The issue with this product is that the magnet is only on the back to attach to the safe, not in the front to engage and hold any barrel laid against it more stable.

What has the collective mind-meld cooperative hive used to solve this problem?

I would never do that. I would be concerned that magnetism would be transferred to the barrel and might attract some metal filing to the bore... Half my barrels are stainless anyhow which usually in non magnetic.

Why not use oak dowels to make up the distance? Dowel down the barrel no worries about hurting the barrel. Start with 1/4" dowel put in in a drill and sand it down to fit.

Maybe rifle rods will work.

I have neodymium magnets on the inner wall of my safe and I lean my rifle back against it where the tip of the barrel/brake touches the magnet and the optic is clear of the safe wall. I also have foam rubber padding on the bottom of the safe as well. My Tikka stainless barrel holds well, as well as my other stainless barrel which is topped with an APA Little bastard.... Stainless.

I don't have extraneous metal filings floating about in my safe, my optics and illumination all still work perfectly fine, and .... Yeah that's about it. I'll get a couple pics in a little bit.

Call me a Luddite but I keep my sbr’s and other ar’s muzzle down on the front row and have some older lever actions & whatnot I rarely use in gun socks on the back row. That way the barrels/stocks sorta offset each other, uhm like 6-9 style. All the ar’s have cans or md’s and the safe floor is carpeted so no worries about damaging crowns. ARs just sorta leaning upside down against one another - I’m careful with the optics getting them in/out but not too worried about a little safe rash amongst the black rifles.

Only issue I'd have with that is on my Dillon I have a light attached to the case feed via magnet.

Only place that shows rust is under the magnet.

Don't think your guns will stay in one spot long term like my light did but.......

If you do end up using one I would recommend making sure its rubber coated.

I just cram everything in there. People think I shoot a lot when they see my shit. Same thing with my LTZ truck. I don't freak out and repair dings and scratches. People think I work for a living.

Thanks for all the replies. Some interesting ideas. Of course I'll have to wait until the safe actually gets here and I start playing with shelves and spacing to see what works best. Thanks again.

I like the adjustable rack system from secureit.

I have this setup in my safe. It’s really nice.

I put ARs on one side and bolt guns on the other.

I left a space between the bolt guns for now, but I could easily fit another two large scopes rifle there, I would just have the orientation flipped and the scope facing the back.

They also make a rod system that may work for you. I like easy access and am willing to give up some capacity.

I actually really reallyyyyy want a system like this, but gotta get some other priorities done did first. My ghetto magnets are working well for now.
