Suppressors Looking for concealed suggestions

Re: Looking for concealed suggestions

Very much an individual, comfort, level of paranoia issue. I error on the "over do it side" because I try to practice worse case scenarios for hand guns and holsters. I have owned them all and carried them all and find I end up back to two holsters and three guns. I carry full size hand guns to give examples to students. I carry a full size custom 1911, Smith model 13 or a Glock 22 in a milt sparks versa max II IWB in black for each gun. 1.5" belt loops and also use tuckable clips. Belts are key. I have 5.11 holster belts, Galco holster belts and Desantis holster belts. I have had all the vest, shirts and cover garments too. I am down to the Woolrich Elite Discrete vest, 5.11 covert or Woolrich discrete shirts. It's a total package with handgun, holster, belt and cover garment. For extreme conceal carry where it is a no-no to the public, I use the Galco belly band over a wife beater T shirt at belt line. Any shirt, lightly tucked in will cover this with no printing. Barrel length is insignificant with standard carry guns IWB. The printing of the grip is the tricky part. A good forward cant is important. The Kramer #3 is not bad but there is no split in the belt snaps so if you are centered over a belt loop you have to slide it forward or back. Some call this the FBI cant. Milt sparks and Galco Royal guards have the split snap. Milts sparks is more comfortable. Both the Royal Guard and the Milt sparks offer easy one handed holstering. This may be important when the threat has stopped and you need to secure your hand gun, reholster, use a cell phone to dial 911, etc. For our revolver brothers I carry a Smith and Wesson model 13 with a 4" bull barrel in a Simply Rugged inside the waist band/ belt loop holster. It looks like hell but you can carry a full size smith and wesson with a 4" barrel 357 magnum 6 shot concealed, all day long. All of these holsters are made in the USA. Very important to me.
Ditto on taking a class. If you can't shoot a Glock accurately, something is wrong with your fundamentals.
If you plan to carry without a round chambered, you sure better practice drawing, working the slide, firing while moving back and ducking for cover. You will not have time to do that in a defensive encounter.
All hand guns have multiple safeties. The most important one is your brain. Keep your finger out of the trigger guard. It works every time it is tried.
If you ware a jacket with a draw string, there is something wrong with you and you need to get more tactical.

Re: Looking for concealed suggestions

I have always been partial to the Sig P220 as I prefer carrying a 45 but am now considering also carrying a small revolver as a belly weapon and a 2nd back up piece.

The best bet is to go to a shop that carries MANY different lines and just feel it out. It doesn't how many people tell you what they like its all feel and comfort. Remember its all about comfort... If its not something you don't mind wearing you wont wear it!!! Then what happens when you need it and its not there???

+1 on the Sig. When I have the money, I plan on purchasing a high-end Polymer handgun and it will be a hard choice between the Sig and HK.

Re: Looking for concealed suggestions

I have always liked the pistols that go bang when you pull the trigger. NO matter what kind they are.

My brother carries his P229DAK with a brigade IWB most of the time and a BH Serpa. I (before I sold it) carried my M&P 40c in a BH Serpa everyday. I did have a cheap Galco IWB that I threw on with a BH velcro belt when I was wearing sweats, running, or bike riding.

As others have said it's not the gun or the holster that is most important. It is the training you get yourself so that you are framiliar with drawing and using your pistol. Train to you failure level. Then train more.

Your damn near wasting your time carrying it then

Guns don't fuck up and go bang...people fuck up and make their guns go bang.

Carrying ANY GUN is a liability that the individual carrying it has to accept right off the bat!

Why the hell are people so bent out of shape when it comes to carrying firearms in the manner they are designed!

Would any of you carry an unchambered gun on a patrol in Iraq or Afghanistan? If you would...you're a fucking idiot and you deserve to get zapped! So in the grand scheme of potentially life threatening encounters...tell me what the difference is between being in a gunfight here or there?

Most armed robbers don't rob folks at "un-chambered" gunpoint.

Re: Looking for concealed suggestions

Well, since the OP bought a P3AT I guess the argument's over for him.

18ssp2md: I carry a P3AT almost everywhere. Check out High Noon holsters, I run their MrSofty. I carry mine IWB Appendix carry in one and love it. Is it the best, hardly, but it beats the crap out of the pistol I didn't carry.

Lots of great input on training and I agree that the best CCW for you is the pistol that you are most comfortable and proficient with.

I could train around my natural preference for 1911's and carry a Glock, but why?
