Hi all,

Several year ago my father gave his SAKO TRG to me when he stopped shooting. This leupold scope that was on it was basically given to him by a friend who had used it. I took it off and sent it in to leupold looking for info on it and to make sure it was in working order. I was hoping they'd give me some info on it and the reticle as well. I got paperwork saying the scope is in perfect mechanical shape but no info on scope or reticle. Maybe you guys can help.

It's an early 2000's, 4.5x-14x tactical scope. Not sure about reticle... It was on a 300win mag TRG if that makes a difference.

What did this cost new? What's it worth now with leupold paperwork? it's been a while since I shot this with my dad - I think the main cross hair was zeroed at 200yds, and every dot below was +100 yards? Would that be right?

Cheers

The reticle is more than likely a custom from Premier but to get any information on it you'll have to map it out at 100 yards with a yard stick or something similar and find out how it correlates with what you're shooting. Chances are it won't be real close but you'll have an idea of what distance each dot and line represent.

Shot in the dark but I believe that reticule is meant to be zeroed at 300 yards for the center, the dot at the very top is 200 and the dot at the bottom is 1000 pretty sure with a mag caliber.

This just jogged my memory. That is correct. I remember going to a range several years ago with my dad that was only 200 yards and we were using the top dot. Thank you!

Yes it was very generous of his friend - they were/are close buddies. My dad doesn't shoot any more so he gave it to me knowing I shoot way more than he does now. Yes I was shocked when he brought it over! Great piece of equip but the season for long range shooting is short in alaska and the 1000 yard range is far away... (I know it's alaska you think they would be everywhere)

I'm looking to sell the trg and this scope as I don't do much of this kind of shooting - looking to get a long range hunting rifle in similar caliber. should I try to sell the scope with the rifle since it's a specific reticle? Is there much interest for a scope with this reticle on it? How's the market for a used trg? (Only about 150 rounds down the tube and it's been stored in dehumidified safe...) I think new it was around 3600? then it's got the trg bipod, trg muzzle break... I'm in alaska and I think there are not many buyers up here.

Thanks guys

Where are you in Alaska. Around Anchorage there are some Tactical shooters who hang out at Birchwood, and around Fairbanks there is a group somewhere near Fox. Some of them might be interested in a rig like that, but not many Mid or Long Range shooters are using a .300 Win Mag any more. I am down in Kenai, but I don't know anyone looking for something like that.

I am in anchorage... Not many for the 300wm? I thought that was one of the more common ones... Is the reticle made solely for a 300wm specific bullet? Or a general use 30 caliber magnum round?
