Just curious, I've been developing some loads for .45 ACP lately and having a ton of fun doing it. Just curios what your favorites are.

BTW, had my first run in with "eco friendly" brass this weekend. Apparently, CCI blazer, and Federal are running Small primers for a greener round now. I know Fiocci has been at this for a while so I've just kept a ton of that brass for a rainy day. I figured what the hell and did 200 rounds of Small Pistol primer .45 acp rounds. They ran fine, couldn't tell a difference.

Re: Looking for your fav. .45 ACP load

~5.5gr Titegroup, 200gr Montana Gold JFP, ~1.215" COAL

Runs great in every pistol it's been in, except my Glock 21C, which it didn't quite have the horsepower to cycle 100%. Stepped it up to 5.75, and all is well.

Runs about 900fps in most 4" ish barrels.

Re: Looking for your fav. .45 ACP load

4.0 grains of Clays and a 230 grain LRN. Around 800 fps, accurate, functions in everything I've ever run it through, and leaves the cases satisfyingly clean. (Not recommended for Glocks or H&Ks due to their polygonal rifling.)

If you must use a jacketed round, I don't think you'll get better accuracy than Hornady bullets. I've run the 200 and 230 grain XTPs over N320 for some truly spectacular groups. I've gotten groups nearly as good using Winchester 231, Ramshot Competition, ZIP, and True Blue.

Re: Looking for your fav. .45 ACP load

5.3 grn W231, WLPP, Precision Delta 230 grn FMJRN, 1.25/.26 OAL. Less recoil than WWB USA but better/equal in accuracy. Works for me when holing paper.

Re: Looking for your fav. .45 ACP load

4.3 grains green dot pushing a 230 grain LRN. Green dot is easy and cheap to find in my area. Meters well and has that great shotgun smell to it!

Re: Looking for your fav. .45 ACP load

6 grs WW231 is a classic load and it makes about 178 power factor behind 200gr bear creek bullet that is molley coated. I never have to brush out any lead. I just use kroil oil and brass brush it.

Re: Looking for your fav. .45 ACP load

-5.2gr. of HP-38
-Rainier 230gr plated RN or RMR 230gr plated RN
-C.O.L: 1.267 - 1.27
-Mixed headstamp brass SP & LP primers(no noticeable difference)
Tested on Sig 1911 5", HK USP45 fullsize & Sig P220 fullsize
2 different shooters one RH and one LH(me)

Re: Looking for your fav. .45 ACP load

4.0grs WST under 200grn Power Bond plated round nose. This load is much cleaner than Bullseye or Titegroup. Just got the Powerbond bullets and I love them. Great load.

Re: Looking for your fav. .45 ACP load

3.8 grains of Clays with 230 grain plated Berrys bullets...mixed brass with large primer...shot 10s of 1000s of these and they work well and are fairly clean and shoot very soft for 45

Re: Looking for your fav. .45 ACP load

4.6 grains of WST and either Zero or PD 230FMJ's. Accurate, nice easy recoil and fairly clean shooting.
I like using Titegroup but I'm always paranoid about a double charge as it fills so little of the case.
