Re: Looking to buy a 7.62 CQB platform
Just because its a bigger caliber doesn't make it a better gun. Does it help? Hell yes it does, but you just might come across an incident where your firearm just doesn't seem effective.
For example Baton Rouge, Louisiana August 1, 1977. Field Training Officer Steve Chaney, and rookie Officer Linda Lawrence respond to a burglary call at an apartment in the Broadmoor Plantation. They encounter James Mullery (6ft, 200lbs) who is high on cocaine and PCP.
Senior Officer is armed with a S&W model 64 38special +P 125grain, and rookie Officer is armed with a similar weapon. Mullery attacks the officers and he receives 10 shots in the struggle (#1wrist, #2-3chest, #4left abdomen zero range, #5upper middle abdomen, #6top of head, #7-8chest, #9abdomen, and #10hip) before he dies of blood loss. Officer Linda Lawrence dies in the incident.
Does 5.56mm have a bad track record...yes, and I'll be switching mine ASAP. I have no experience with the LMT MWS or the others mentioned, but I do have the LMT monolithic CQB and its plenty light, and accurate to boot. Wonder it can be cambered in 300blackout? Anyway I think LMT would be pretty good choice IMO.
