Mission dictates gear. What is your overall goal. Are you trying to win every single match? Do you want to hunt with said rifle also, what’s your experience like? You could spend $900 on a rifle, $1500 on glass and the rest on ammo and slowly work up to that big custom rifle.
My LGS has a Savage 10T in a MDT chassis in 6.5 for $900 with a Diamondback(trash optic). You could start with that, try out PRS and see if you enjoy it. Then get the custom rifle made.
Ahh ok, I’d recommend going the route @hookedonbrass mentioned then, I’m bias He has a really good point!I want to be able to compete.
I've been shooting NRLX. I want move up to big boy rifles.
2k for just the rifle or rifle and glass?
Probably need another 5k for training ammo, bags, bipod, weather meter, training barricades, .22 trainer....
I kid, I kid...sort of.
Yeah sometimes i had wish i went that route first going in. Instead I spent 6,000 on my first rifle and couldn't shoot nearly as good as a $2,000 rifle! You’d honestly be dumb not to go with one of the production class rifles. It’s what they are for. you are basically getting a custom rifle cheaper then you could build it yourself.
And you literally won’t grow out of that rifle for years if you chose to stick with it.
I’m not sure what the other companies offer but MPA is offering even more calibers now too
Another good option in your budget

Perfect! They are local to me!
It was 3 years ago, but now im going to try competing with my Desert Tech SRS this year and see how that goes!I hear ya.
Most of these production class offerings are pretty new though. So depending when you built your rifle you they probably weren’t an option.
Great looking rifle too!If you like the ergos of a chassis, this is a killer deal. You would have a vey hard time building for this price.

You mention $2k budget
Which happens to be the threshold for the production class.
So companies like MPA, badrock, GAP, etc make basically custom rifles for that $1999.99 price point.
You can’t build those rifles yourself for cheaper.
The Cronus is a solid scope that you will not grow out of for awhile
Already happening.$2500 for production. Now all the “production” rifles will start to cost $2500 instead of $1,999.
Nothing at all wrong with the action on this rifle.Any hesitancy about the action manf on that gun?
