Guys, just found out from a inside source that DoD just released a small batch of new production M118A1 Long Range (308win/7.62x51) to CMP.
This is the latest flavor with Lake City 2011 production brass, flash resistant powder, and the new Sierra 175-gr ASD technology bullet. This A1 production ammo can only be used in rifles with right-hand twist rifling to benifit from the ASD technology bullets. Also, they cannot be used in the Southern Hemisphere because the bullets are designed for the Northern Hemishere.
My source said they will be available starting Monday morning for $349 per 980-rounds (two sealed 50-cal cans banded toghter in wood crates).
My understanding is the US Army is moving fast forward with 300WM rifle procurement, and is providing a limited quantity of this ammo to CMP. My source told be CMP is only receiving 1200 crates, as most of the stuff will be going to Eastern European NATO members.
I'll be buying two crates (CMP's limit) Monday early AM.
