I built this rifle over the last year, waited 3 months for the tan sage mod 0 stock.(so my patience level is pretty high) I can pick up a Leupold 110076 NIB for 1450 today or would I be better off just picking up a USO sn3.

Unsure of the purchase of the Leupold due to the last leupold I purchased had reticle cant issues. Where as I have never owned a USO scope but from what I have heard they are the most durable optic out there. Along with the glass/quality to match.

As you know the m1a is a rough action rifle compared to a bolt rifle, so take that into consideration.

Have 1800 as of now to spend in my optic fund, It will be 4 more weeks before I'll have the 2500 for the uso.

I would like to hear from someone who has used both. rather than just biased opinions.
I've read and watched the reviews on here and others of these 2 scopes, which were used on benched bolt rifles, rather than fielded "heavy" slung over the back and carried/banged on trees ect. semi auto.
Not saying I use my rifle as a hammer but it is a rifle lets not forget, not a porcelain vase.

For me to pick up a f1 at 2300.00. Would it not make sense for me to just pay 200 more for the uso? Now if it was in the same range or couple hundred as the lup. I would pick it over the Leupold. but 800 more.?! granted Its better to see with more clarity, but to put rounds downrange I personally don't need to count the nose hairs on my target.

You should get a hold of George at GA Precision and see when the Bushnell HDMR scopes with the G2 reticle will be in. Run less than the Leupold and a solid optic.

Or a Vortex Razor if you didn't mind spending the full $1800.

6.5-20X50 is a bit much don't you think? I used to have one and sold it to get a 1.8-10X44 USO. I just sold that to get a 1.8-10X37 USO. Think size and logistics when you're considering which scope. I had a JAE with a medium 22" barrel and the 1.8-10X44, the rifle was 20+ pounds with empty mag. I've got a Sage Mod 1 now, a medium 18.5" barrel and am waiting for the new scope still... guessing on the heavy side it'll be 15+ pounds with empty mag. You're talking about a slung, rough and tumble rifle; I'd go with compact and durable.

I just put this together I have a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50mm ER/T on a Larue LT 608 mount. I love it I just got done with The DIGI Camo..

Once I get the Balls I'll do the Scope and Bi-pod

And I thought my new 16" 308 was kind of hefty at 11.5ish scoped unloaded. I have a big fat IOR 3-18 in steel rings too...

This rifle is just a tank, the next thing to lose weight will be switching to a standard profile barrel when the medium weight barrel is shot out. That should drop about 1.5 pounds of steel from the rifle. The weight includes the scope and rings estimated at about 2ish pounds, my Eagle Mk14 EBR sling, AFG, TangoDown ACB-4 bipod, empty mag and ladder rail covers. The stocked rifle alone would be about 11.5ish, still on the heavy side.

Re: m1a emr scope. Lupy M5 or SN3

When I first started building this rifle I wanted a USO, but the price was pretty steep. I then looked to a Leupold MK4. While it was cheaper to do so, they lacked some features I wanted and I thought where cool for the better lack of technical terms. I had a lot of time to decide on my eventual choice. I had never even seen any USO's first hand prior to the one I bought. It really was a leap of faith for me, basing it on review alone. Leupold's here at home are like a dime a dozen. Everyone has Leupolds. While they aren't shit, a comparable USO does blow it out of the water.

Like NoExpert I choose the 1.8-10x37mm SN-3 to grace the top of my rifle, except mine is with Tpal. Here is a picture of it mocked up the day I got the rings. While it is hard to tell, it is as low as possible. There is only room for 8 clicks of elevation on the NM iron sight to give you an idea. And with a EREK elevation knob on the scope it does make the rifle about as compact as it is going to ever be. I really like the scope. After having been to the range with it, the only things I see that could stand a slight tweak is the internal bubble being a little more visible somehow, my digital illumination is a bit much for future NV, and the digital option would be really sweat if you could just hold/scroll brightness setting instead of tap the button 30+ times from brightest to dimmest. Nowever there is no problem seeing the illumination in full sun. It is bright! Using it I've found the adjustments are right on box testing it with an accurate returnable zero. All and all a truly nice scope and I'm glad I spent the money for it.

I think this scope would suit you pretty well also. Having the 1.8 power is so sweat having a huge field of view and quick target acquisition at closer targets while 10x is more than enough to see a target well inside the rifles max range.

BTW this rifle weighs in at 15.4# without the bi pod. It's a pretty hefty rifle also.

If I had the funds right now for the scope I wanted for my EBR, it would be a USO ST-10, or the SN 4 1-6. I have used both, and from my opinion the ST, or SN would get you way under your 1800.00, with ammo to buy, and is way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! better deal then any Mark IV just my opinion.

Re: m1a emr scope. Lupy M5 or SN3

Arrg. So I made the mistake and got the m5 Leupold, should have waited! first problem I noticed right out of the box. It only clicks half way on the elevation knob, Then the other half barely is feel-able. and no audible click.
while I was turning it would skip 1-1-2-1-1, if you get what I'm saying.
Glass is good. Tried to get a hold of their customer service no answer, emailed twice- no response. Should have waited on the USO, well I will be getting the USO I should say.

already got my quote.

sn3 it was.- you know what else sells me on the uso. The fact that how many times has someone(let alone the owner) from leupold Came on this or any forum to help out with customers/potential customers. Yet John is on here all the time if not everyday.
Anyone need a mounted but not(worth it)fired Leupold, Anyone know if they refund if I send it directly back to the factory. The Shop I got it at won't because the outside plastic has been opened!! odd they sell displays all the time too.

Sometimes they need a bit of work going up and down working the grease around to get the clicks feeling right. It's worth a shot and won't cost you a dime.
