M24 Trigger Alternatives for M40A5 clone?

Just curious to see what triggers you guys may be using for your M40A5 builds other than the correct M24 trigger. I'm in the process of gathering the parts for my A5 clone and the trigger is the last piece that I'm searching for but I'm not sure that I know enough about them to be sure that I'd be able to judge the condition of an M24 based upon a picture (in order to avoid buying one that is unservicable or unsafe). This has gotten me to thinking about using a different trigger for the build, at least temporarily, until I can find an M24.

I've read that the shoe of the Timney 510 closely resembles the shoe on the M24, so I may go that route but I'm curious to know if there are other alternatives.

Pick up an older Walker style Remington 700 trigger and call it good until you find your M24.

Better yet seek out an older R700 trigger with the "tombstone" style safety and call it the first part of your M40 build.

If you post a WTB here in the accessories section or over at www.m40rifle.com you will likely find a serviceable M24 trigger with its pull record.

Thanks - I hadn't thought about using a Walker trigger. That's definitely a good solution since I know that I can get one pretty easily.

So, I ended up going the Walker trigger route with my build (which is now all done and ready for me to pick up). My BO scope rings came in the mail today, so I just need to track down the S&B PMII and I'm ready to hit the range - finding this scope is proving to be a challenge. I've seen a couple pop up here and there but I'm always late to the party

I also have a premier 3-15 but its a double turn if you are interested. Not issued with the A5 but authorized to swap with the m110 premier. (Correct is single turn premier).

Thanks - I did see the one on EuroOptic earlier this afternoon but I'm hoping to see if I can find a used one for a little less (I'm trying to save money where I can in order to help fund my Mk13 Mod 0 build). I'll send you a PM to find out a little more about your Premier

I know it's not remotely the same as the M24 Trigger, but I recently installed a Calvin Elite Trigger on one of my Mcmillan builds and I love it. It's a great trigger and helps gives me the extra advantage I need to get the best shot off. To be honest most people will just see a sweet m40 build. The correct trigger wont cross their mind haha. I would go with a trigger that you like the feel of.

I agree - I don't think anyone will ever pay any attention to my trigger. I'm very happy with how the build came out. It's just about perfect in every detail except that it doesn't have the M24 in it. The groups that it's making at 100 yards are under half minute. My builder was able to test it out at 1000 yards and was making consistent hits with 175 grainers

I have 3 m24 triggers. They are for spec builds only. The rem TBA tuned trigger that I took of the last donor action feels better than the m24's that I have.

I have a plaiand boring factory R700 trigger on my build. I did have a gunsmith work on the trigger though and it’s fantastic. If youre not going to go with a spec trigger, get one smithed.

That's exactly what I did - I had my builder take an old walker style trigger and tune it for me. It feels great and (in my mind anyway) freed-up some funds for me to put towards the S&B PMII. So, essentially, my gun is all spec except that it's missing the M24

I'll probably do the same on the Mod 0 build that I'm working on (everything spec except the trigger)

Call it an "M40A5ish".

As soon as anyone posts about their "spec" A5 everyone is looking at the post and fact checking "spec" hoping to be able to point out deviations.

An individual builder may cut a crown a certain way or do a thumb cut in his manner but for the most parts the parts were uniform.

They are more like 40X triggers in a way with some extra adjustment and they are certified at Remington being delivered with paperwork showing the pull weight.
