M70 barrel removal, how tough is it?

DJ -

You will require a barrel vise and an action vise. Although the tools are available, if this is a one use, you would be better off taking it to your LGS and have them remove it. It will cost less than the tools.

Also, since you stated you are re-barreling in another thread, you should probably just acquire the barrel you want and take (or send) your current action and the new barrel to a good gunsmith and let them chamber, thread, crown and install your barrel to your specifications. M70's are not really DIY projects for first timers. I believe you stated this was a CRF M70, you will also need a chamber cut on the new barrel for the extractor.

Going off the pics, it doesn't look like CRF but either way, unless you have the action wrench and vice, and the means to set your headspace, it's not a DIY job.

You are correct, it is not. Was going off memory - bad idea. The thread clearly states 1967-1968.

The picture also shows it as a PF.

I won't rebarrel it myself, I just wanted to pull the barrel so I can sell it.
