Hey, limited gunsmithing knowledge here so talk to me like I'm a moron. I had a gun built by a local smith, surgeon sa and bottom metal mounted on a manners stock. When I first got the rifle the ai mag would fall right out and would hardly catch. I took a punch and pushed the tab on the magazine out and it helped (still can wiggle the mag out) but when I was practicing with some other guys at the range they let me try a couple of their different magizines. They however would fall right out and wouldn't even catch. It seems my rifle is the problem and not the mags. Anyone ever seen this or have some idea on things I can try?

Thanks.

Politely ask the local smith that built it address the issue.

The Z-axis dimension or "pinch points" between the receiver and the DBM hardware has to be set to the (DBM) manufacturers spec. Short of a possible bad mag latch, that is most likely the issue.

If you paid for the gun to be built or the DBM bottom metal to be installed, it should have been worry free upon delivery. I would only contact Surgeon if your builder confirms that the install is to spec and then only if you supplied the hardware for the build. If your builder supplied it, they should also be the ones to work with the manufacturer to resolve your issue.

Good luck with the fix.
Be sure to update your thread with whatever the fix was so others can learn from it.

Be safe,

./

A few years ago I had a rifle built with a Accuracy International stock and had the same problem . My gunsmith filed the magazine so it would grab the lever and it worked . The only problem is that is the only magazine the works with that gun. If I want more magazines they have to be filed and are no good in any other guns . It would be better to file the lever so all magazines work but as Terry said somethings not right if your modifying parts to make it work right,
