So idk about you guys but im having a hard time finding stocks in MTU or M24 channel profile and im starting to open up to the idea of getting a smaller channel and opening it myself.

I know manners will do it for me but if its something that entails elbow grease and patience then i might take on the project.

Any ideas?

I've opened the barrel channel of a Manners T6 using different sandpaper grits, a PVC pipe and an old burnt barrel. It took me less than 1/2 hour going from a Tikka CTR profile to a Marksman profile. Composite material is very easy to sand.

I've opened the channel on my manners stock. Just used a piece of PVC pipe and sandpaper. Stuff is super soft and sands easily. I masked off the top of the stock line and spray painted the channel flat black once I was done since the fill material was a white color.

Bartlein Heavy Palma to Bartlein Heavy Varmint/MTU is the scope of the work if i pull on the stock im looking at.

At the moment i dont have a spare barrel, just the barreled action that will ride on it.

Sort of worried on how to go about opening up the chamber/shoulder area at the very back of the stock.

Take your time and make sure you don't wander off center. It's not a big deal after you've done it a few times.

I prefer to wear a dust mask when doing stock work, but that's your call.

I normally use a combination of my barrel channel tool and 80 grit paper. The disc bladed cutters made for wood stocks work fine on lay ups, too. Just have to clean them out frequently.
