Had a rifle built by a smith 2.5 years ago and a stock on order 2 years ago this month. Long story short two years was too long waiting on my stock with being told every 4months it would be 16 more weeks, so I demanded a refund. I've made my mind up on going with the new Elite series stock by manners. They didn't have any Elite mcs-t stocks in for demo so they sent me the original standard fill stock to see how it fits, be here Tuesday.

Question, how do you like the handling, balance, strength, and over all weight of the new Elite series over the standard? I will be shooting from a prone position off big pod 50% of the time. I was told it will shave a full pound off the finished weight in the new elite series. Which sounds nice other than the up charge amount. Lol.

I will be using this rifle as a primary LR hunting rifle with the normal range practice. My shooting is mostly prone with some stand hunting. I looked at the EH2 elite hunter and considered it, but the flat forearm was what sold me on the MCS-T since in some stands I have a flat shooting surface for a prop.

Opinions and pictures of this stock, standard or elite.

Thanks,
Brandon

I went with the EH1 after hunting and shooting with a 90% carbon fiber T5 for a few years. I shoot steel, mainly prone and hunt hogs, deer and coyotes out of stands or on the ground. I really like the weight it took off. Balances great with my 18" 308. My rifle comes in at 11lbs with an empty 5 rd mag, the Atlas bipod and G2DMR on it which weighs almost 2lbs alone. This is a great stock for a lighter weight steel/hunting do all type setup.

Very nice set up & hog.

Talking with Manners they requested my action and barrel to be sent in to inlet the stock for my action and bed pillars. Doing this they said I will have absolutely no reason to skim bed the action it will be 100% ready to shoot. Anyone else done this? Did you still skim bed?

I've got an EH4, which I wanted for the same purpose, a lighter weight hunting rig. Love the stock.

It currently has the factory barreled action in it, which has a 26" barrel, Varmint contour. (Just trying to burn the barrel out) The final product, once re-barreled will likely have a 20" barrel.

This is just my personal opinion, but I think the extreme light weight of these stocks lends itself better to shorter barreled rifles. The 26" barrel on mine makes it a tad front heavy.

If I were going to run a longer barrel (24" or longer) I would probably opt for the standard fill, to give more weight at the butt and balance better.

For a shorter barreled rig (22" or less), the EH series seems perfect, to me anyway.

Edit: I suppose a lighter contour barrel, could help the overall balance too. Food for thought.

Here is the rifle I am finishing with the stock. It is a 26" fluted #5 heavy sporter.

As it sits it is balanced pretty well and easy to handle free hand on target. For a hunting rifle I kinda like the look of the gun as it sits and skim bedded the action and pillars while waiting on my original stock being built, but I just can stand the grip on the stock.

I got the demo stock in from Manners today but it was in letter for a Remington so it's tough to say how the rifle will feel with it.

Santee, With the barrel I have do you still think it would be front heavy in the elite tac stock?

I'm no expert, but normally the #5 contour seems to come in a bout 0.5 lb lighter than a RV, plus your's is fluted, so that will shave some weight too. It should do fine.

Also, If you are staying with the 26" barrel, I would advise the EH-1, 2, or 3 not the EH-4.

The EH-4 is only 28.25" about 2-4" shorter than the other models, just something to keep in mind. As I said, my long terms goals are for a shorter rig, that is why I went with the EH4.

Hope that helps.

Appreciate the time.
The stock I'm looking to use is the MCS-T Elite Tactical which uses the new lightweight shell like the EH series. The MCS-T from what Manners describes is what the EH-4 was designed from, with the EH4 just having a shorter forearm pretty much. I'm leaning heavy towards it. I just wish the demo was inletted for a savage so I could have gotten a good feel for it assembled.

I hunt with a Manners T3 with the regular 90% Carbon Fill from a couple of years ago. I absolutely love the balance and feel of the gun. When I place a Swarovski hunting scope like a Z-3 it is great for 300 yards and closer.
Right now I have one of my heavier PMII's on the rifle as I've been using it at longer range.
The rifle is my favorite rifle to shoot.
I don't think you would have any issues with hunting with a Manners Tactical stock.

Went ahead and ordered the stock today. Manners MCS-T elite tactical in GAP camo. People at Manners have been nothing but patient and curtious with all my questions before ordering, great company.

Now for the 16-20 week wait time.....

This is exactly what I did with mine. I shipped them the barreled action and they did the pillar bedding etc... Nothing else done to it and it shoots lights out. I was very happy with their work.
