I want to mark the current height of my cheek piece off the chassis, so on the metal bolt so when I adjust it for cleaning, I can get it back to the same spot.

I also want to mark the diopter setting on my binos and my scope.

And then I want to mark the level on my scope in case I ever bang it and it gets off alignment.

At the same time if I ever sell/adjust any of these settings I want to be able to safely remove this marking w/o stripping say the paint off my Vortex Razor AMG.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks!

Try this. Take your cheek piece to your local hardware store. Find plastic washers or spacers that fit the 2 posts. Buy a bunch. Go home, and try stacking the washers until your cheek height is perfect. Then you have a perfect return to height. You can tape them together or just be careful when you remove the cheek piece.

I have this on my AI chassis. I do prefer the C- clip/lock ( I know thats not the correct name for the part) that @Terry Cross uses on his loggerhead cheek piece. I have 2 stocks with that and it works as designed.

    Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the tip, I was going to do that for my ACC/Manners, but the ARC Xylo cheek is a bit different.. just going to sharpie the edge so if I don't see it it's too low, and if there's a gap, then it's too high.

I use really small PEX pipe for cheek piece sleeves on the AICS (see pic). Works perfectly and you’re only dealing with two sleeves rather than a stack of washers.

I second the silver sharpie. I’ve been trying to find a fine-tipped white paint marker but haven’t had any luck. I thought about the fine tip white out but the sharpie has worked just fine. I use pencil for indexing during mounting and then sharpie to witness mark everything once finished. Try going to staples/Office Depot. They have a huge selection of random markers on the test board. Bring your mount or optic and see what shows the best/what you like and buy it. Then just use alcohol to clean off your test marks. 🍻
