Forum noob here. Sorry, but it seems that every time I google match grade info, I only get pistol results. Is it worth getting a match grade over a standard? I bought a match grade years ago for a m77, but it couldn't out shoot the standard. Now, I just ordered a 6.5 grinny grinny for my ar and thinking about canceling it for a standard and save about $200. Thoughts?

You are comparing apples to hand grenades at this point in time with your analogy. Saying that a barrel is a "match barrel" has many different connotations to different people and many mfg's use that term VERY losely indeed. If you can be more specific as to what mfg's barrel you just purchased, including what model, etc....then it is possible that someone here can give you some decent information, but as it stands now...it'd be pure speculation. Also, just as a future warning...it helps a hell of a lot if you ASK THESE TYPES OF QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU PLACE AN ORDER!!! ;)

Additionally, and since you didn't say I'll just throw it out there...one of the biggest issues with a "match barrel" for an AR is the inclusion of a matched, properly headspaced bolt. Just one more thing to consider...

Brux makes as good barrel blanks as anyone. If you can get an AR barrel made from a Brux you will have a very accurate shooter. Here is a 200 yd. target I shot my Savage built bolt gun with a Brux barrel. Oh, It is my hunting rifle not a target rifle.

I got this one Shilen Drop-In Match Barrel Bolt AR-15 6.5 Grendel Service Rifle HBAR. I usually ask before hand, but since this is the first 6.5 that I can grab and not sell my kidney for it, I got it. The standard is a bit more behind, but then, its only a 16".
