    Re: Mcree Stocked Rifles ??

Here is my thought and take on it:

I personally didnt like it. I didnt like the folding mechanism, mag well was tighter than hell, forend had some semi sharp edges, couldnt get down with a true pistol grip bolt gun, wasnt a fan of the cheekpiece system, harris pods didnt ride it well. The only few things i did like were the complete modularity of the system and the no bedding. Hope this helps, if he wants a completely modular system that folds on the cheaper side of things it wouldnt be bad. If i personally had the dough id look at TacMod. Hope this helps some.

    Sendero,
I'm waiting for Later to chime in. He uses McRee stocks. You might wanna shoot him an email about them.

This one just came in from Later- took it to the range yesterday and snapped a pic with the cell- sorry for the poor picture quality!

I think that stock is McRees' Custom Varminter. Does anyone know if that model is still available?

Sendero, if it came down to it and I needed it in the cold, I would just wrap it in vet-wrap(They even make it in white ;]). Not sure how that would work on the fore end types such as shiner's and deadly's.

    Here's my first on a Rem 700P in .308:

I went McRees with my Rem 700 and am waiting until after the Christmas financial bloodletting to put one on my Win 70.

To address a couple of the issues:
I prefer the AR style grip... I guess I'm just used to it. The cheekpiece is covered, so cold hasn't been an issue either. I went with the rail style Monopod adapter, and it fit great.

With the alternatives requiring additional expense for DBM & bedding, I took a chance with McRees and have been pleased.
I love mine and have recommended several folks who PM'ed me after seeing my rig posted in other threads.

    Hope this helps...

    Re: Mcree Stocked Rifles ??

I read in a previous thread that they are making a new adjustable grip for the stock and it is going to need that open area. I also read that they were working on making a rounded front as well.

    Re: Mcree Stocked Rifles ??

When Scott drops his new designs you all will be very impressed.... I have his latest creation the McM Tac50 stock and it is very very nice! It really makes the rifle easy to shoot now.

    Re: Mcree Stocked Rifles ??

I love mine, i've had it since march. It's been lugged around on coyote excursions often, and I consider my stick a working rifle. It's totally adjustable and therefor comfortable. It doesnt get that hot in the summer. In the winter it's not a concern either. if it's cold to the point that i'd have to worry about it, I already have some type of face covering as a buffer. Otherwise you can always get a cheek pad from S.O Tech.

The deal with the front ends is that there are several. There are also several options for the ass end as well. This is the beauty of the modular system. The first piece (middle) is obviously going to be determined by the action that will be used in it. Other than that you can make it any way you want, or even order the different fronts or cheek pieces so you can change it up to suit your mood. see the different configurations here http://www.billetarms.com/

as for looks, it is ugly.. I didnt buy it for looks.. I dont fuck my rifle, I shoot it...I dont think scott designed it for looks either. between the grip and the trigger guard is where the rear action screw resides....you want that open. It's a non issue.

    another good review

    Re: Mcree Stocked Rifles ??

The Mcree folder is a great stock in my opinion. Been using one on my 338LM for a while. The folder sure makes for easier transportation, fits in standard length cases, bags etc. Also makes for easier (badword) cleaning. Midway carries an adhesive backed 1/8" thick recoil pad made by Kick eez which makes that frozen aluminum cheek rest much more friendly. Last ones I bought were about $9 and are big enough for two cheek rests or one ambidextrous rest.
    Nice looking piece VTi !!!

    Re: Mcree Stocked Rifles ??

I just ordered mine from McRees yesterday. I got one in brown and he is setting up the mag to be able to shoot the 300RUM. Said it would not be a problem to do and he would have it out to me today. Should be here before Christmas for me to drop my sendero into it. Hope it is as good as advertised. I was going to go with another AI but can not justify the price increase that I saw at 1100.00 bucks.
