What's the consensus on the MDT 12 round mags? Ive never had a problem with AICS mags, and was wondering if the MDTs are just as reliable.

Which cartridges have you used through your MDT mags?IMO, they’re just as reliable. If you’re looking for ease of stripping off that first of 12 loaded rounds, an AICS with an extension runs smoother than a MDT with 12 loaded.
I file all the inside edges and around the front corner. It eliminates the scratching of the brass but more importantly to me, it takes less forward effort and smother when its not digging into the brass.I've read some some earlier comments that the feed lips on the MDT mags were really rough and benefit from a light sanding, is this still true?
My aics mags have always scratched my brass but I never thought it was a problem.
Is the placement of the magazine catch on the mags more consistent on the MDTs from mag to mag vs the aics?

I'm shooting a 6.5x47, hopefully their issues were resolved.6 & 6.5x47L, 6.5CM, 260, and I have tried 6 Dasher in but have their dedicated Dasher mag.
I’ve heard folks had an issue with them when running the 6.5x47L and associated wildcats but I’ve never experienced any issues.
What was the underlying issue? Are the feed lips shorter on the MDTs?MDT 12 rounders had some issues with 6GT. I ended up swapping them to the ARC mags and ARC mags are definitely smoother out of my action (Terminus Zeus)

Was this just for the 12 rnd or all steel mags for the GT? I ran the 10 rnd at a match this weekend all the way through 10 and didn’t have any issues. Actually I want to put an extension on it.I'm not exactly sure. At first it was some bolt overs, but that was fine fixing latch and feed lips. Others reported that once you get to 12 rounds there would be issues but I didn't run with them long enough. I started diagnosing it and I mailed them and they responded that their MDT Steel mags have issues with 6GT and that they addressed it in their hybrid poly/metal mags and I guess they'll fix it in their revised steel mags (though maybe not until Shot show?)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you. I think I will try 1 ARC mag to see. Did you add any extensions to them to run the GT?I tried the 12, but MDT said it was for all steel that could cause a problem. Butif it works it works!
I decided to swap my MDT's to ARC as it ran smoother.

These things are mass produced stampings from sheet steel then they are heat treated. There's going to be part to part variation.Just got my MDT 12 round mag. The 6.5x47 rounds feed pretty darn smooth from the first round to the last. I ran across another thread where someone was having an issue with 6.5x47s in the MDT mags, but mine seems fine.
Did MDT change something to make the 6.5x47s feed better or is it luck if the draw?
You should try the 12-rounder with an extension....IMO, they’re just as reliable. If you’re looking for ease of stripping off that first of 12 loaded rounds, an AICS with an extension runs smoother than a MDT with 12 loaded.
What's wrong with them?@Saf3sh00t3r and most of the guys from Texas we shoot with will agree - the MDT magazines are an eternal frustration and total junk. Use them at your peril.
I'll report back to this thread if I start having issues. The rounds nosedive in the magazine due to the design of the follower. If a MDT magazine hasn’t given you issues, just be patient - it will.
I’ve never had an issue with AICS magazines either.
Do you run any kits for br in your Aics mags or does the standard 308 mag feed them fine? The rounds nosedive in the magazine due to the design of the follower. If a MDT magazine hasn’t given you issues, just be patient - it will.

Oh well. I'll probably put it up for sale on the PX and stick with AICS mags.No sir. I haven’t found a cure and don’t trust MDT magazines.
I’ve been running 3 of the 308 version with 6creed for the last two years and 2 of the BR version since January of this year without an issues.
I'm not sure which springs it has but the tension feels pretty light.Do you have the flat springs in them? If so contact mdt and see if they have the lighter tension spring ones
I sent a message to MDT about it. Maybe they have dealt with this problem before.
I prefer the Magpul & MDT mags over AICS.What's the consensus on the MDT 12 round mags? Ive never had a problem with AICS mags, and was wondering if the MDTs are just as reliable.
I prefer the Magpul & MDT mags over AICS.
A friend of mine who is a champion level shooter prefers Magpul as well.
So yes, I'm sure MDT mags will be reliable.
Yeah, AICS didn't work for my friend either, I guess that all brands can and will have issues at some point?...It turns out it wasn't. At least not with my 6.5x47 ammo.
My AICS is still going strong, but I agree with you all brands will have issues at some pointYeah, AICS didn't work for my friend either, I guess that all brands can and will have issues at some point?...
