Yeah I couldn’t do that as we only got 11 or so hours of daylight to hunt. The 18 hour ones are twice the size and put out more heat so the grip would actually be warm instead of just taking the chill out of it with the little ones.
We ran short on handwarmers and only had one so I had to get creative since I had to be on alert as a stander on a drive and don’t like to shoot with gloves on.
Does anyone have a photo of a Rem 700 LA CIP one with a Accurate Mag 3 round mag or Curtis Custom 3rd (if you can find one)in it?
I’m curious how flush they sit. Too bad MDT doesn’t make a LA mag similar to the SA one.

I needed another inch of LOP, and may yet add even more, but I sure do like this stock now that I’ve got it fitting me a little better! It’s really hard to beat the weight and integrated full length 1.5” dovetail.

Ordered 8/4/21 ($1600 collected), with 6-8 week lead time
Emailed 10/7/21, response - all backordered chassis would ship by 10/15/21
Emailed 10/26/21, response - 2 to 3 more weeks, the chassis are in QC
Emailed 11/29/21, response - 5 to 6 more weeks, flooding, still in QC
I'm extremely disappointed I did not have this for elk season, even more so to not have it for the NRL Hunter season. I would email support again, but they appear to only give placating responses. It's pretty close to 6 months at this point -- coincidentally so is Ground Hog Day. What's really going on?

We want to have a perfect product so it's little things that end up getting rejected. Our apologies for the wait and missing dates, but it's our desire to make sure it's perfect. We did have a bout of COVID last week that hit around 40% of our production staff. But, yes, we can only provide updates with the information we have. I started and ran a business from inception up through 3000+ employees, fully vertically-integrated, shipped and imported worldwide. The gun industry is truly pathetic - your chassis should obviously be free, and they should bend over backwards to blow you, first for their failure, but more importantly, for the lies that followed and the even more pathetic latest excuse - the dreaded rona.
I bite my tongue constantly because I want to give the benefit of the doubt, especially to those who are trying to serve this industry (extra difficulty due to stigma attached) - and in this case, MDT makes some great products. But if you are unable to manage your business at the most basic level - fulfilling promises - you do not deserve to be in business at all.
Yep, Ground Hog Day, check back in 6 weeks? I see you've been given the same script for responses. You've been struggling to make it "perfect" since my October check-in.
Teasing a future product is one thing, but offering it for purchase and collecting money without working out the production issues is grossly irresponsible.
Buyers beware.

I‘m a nobody with zero ties to the gun industry other than as a customer, and ordered mine with the folding stock and integrated rail a couple months ago. They were straightforward with their messaging that it would be several weeks at the earliest before mine would ship.
Mine showed up Tuesday!
It may be a simple matter of a specific configuration, or maybe parts availability for that configuration…dunno, and not going to speculate. And as an operations manager with a very large national company with huge logistics arms, I can tell you the staffing disruptions from the CoCo have wreaked absolute havoc on our supply chain as well as our internal production for the last several weeks…I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on that aspect of any delays.
Admittedly, I’m not waiting for a specific hunt or match to use this chassis since my barrel won’t be ready until later this summer, and my action won’t be built until late Fall, maybe. LOL. All I can say is that I had a positive experience; truly regret others have not.
Will post more on my particular build once more parts show up, but no regrets with the chassis for sure.

@MDT_OFFICIAL Any word on the XM, I know you'd mentioned potentially looking at it, but I was curious if those plans had solidified. I'm about to embark on a new build, and love my SA HNT26, but really would prefer an XM for the next setup.
So I got my chassis, but one of the foreend screws didn’t seem to be going in as smoothly as the others. So I backed it out and finished installing the others screws to the recommended torque before reattempting the final foreend screw (the bottom one). The hole was perfectly lined up but it still didn’t seem to be going in smoothly, so I tried a different side foreend screw that had worked previously and had the same issue. At this point I saw some gummy material on the inside come out with the screw, so I figured that must be it and not the internal thread itself. So I tried again and turned very slowly/carefully, and it went about 3/4 before getting bunged up. I didn’t want to strip anything so I backed it out and realized the screw was stripped along the bottom 1/4. I’m pretty frustrated given how careful I was and stripped a screw regardless. I’m hoping I didn’t screw up the internal threads, since I’m not sure of the hardness of the magnesium alloy. Anyways, hopefully someone can learn from this. I’ll be reaching out to MDT on Monday. I did my due diligence and was very careful, but still had an issue regardless.
It’s hard to strip a screw without realizing you were doing it using hand tools. I used a torque wrench on all of mine and didn’t have any issue, but I also didn’t see any gummy material. I think those were only 10 or 15 in/lb and I’d expect you to have hit that well before a screw stripped. Easy enough fix at least, assuming it’s just the screw, but if you’re saying you’re having issues with any of the screws it sounds like there might be an issue on the female side.
Look with a light/magnifier and see if something seems off with the internal threading. Maybe it didn’t get fully threaded and/or a tapping operation failed due to a broken tap or something?
If you have taps, after you talk with MDT (get their blessing), it’d be pretty easy to square that away without a return trip to them, if you wanted.
I though so too and was very careful, but the bottom half of the screw is still stripped, it didn’t get noticeably sticky until about 3/4 down and then I pulled it out immediately. The two front side screw were both torqued to 10in/lbs per directions, and none of the side screws had issues. It was the bottom foreend screw that felt slightly different, but it was almost unnoticeable and I assumed due to the gummy material. I know what it feels like to strip a screw and the resistance didn’t start until 3/4 down, upon which I stopped immediately. I can send you a photo of the female end threads later, curious to hear your thoughts on how that looks.
Maybe some goofy female threading and soft screws, sounds like you did everything you could. I’m happy to look at the female threads once you snap some pictures, but I’m sure you’ll notice if something isn’t right. Either way I know MDT will square you away.
Just wanted to clarify that despite my issue with the screws the chassis itself is an excellent product with very high build quality and amazing features. It’s a very well thought out and polished chassis. In my mind this has cemented MDT as the company to beat when it comes to chassis’ as a whole, as no one else is innovating like this on the market. This is obvious given the number of ACC esque (ie. long flat bottom w/ integrated Arca) knockoff chassis’ released in the last year or so and I expect there will be a new crop of CF ultralight hunting chassis released within the next few years from less innovative competitors. Hats off to Josh, Anthony and everyone else.
That said, a vertically adjustable butt pad option and vertical carbon grip would be amazing. It’s important to have the buttpad in line with the bore IMO on any rifle. I know that will add some weight, but it’s nice to have the option.
Vertical carbon grip was shown at Shot Show. You can pick it up in a few of the videos that have been released to social media.

Another thing that should be considered is including more spacers with this chassis. The 12.5” - 13.5” LOP only covers small to average sized shooters, as the 13.5” LOP is the standard/average LOP for fixed stocks in North America. For larger guys, this doesn’t work and no one of slightly larger size should have to order more spacers with their chassis to get a minimum of 14”. I don’t expect MDT to accommodate a 16” LOP, but at least 14.5” should be accommodated IMO. Also, the 1/4” spacer width is understandable, but I know having the option for a single 1” or 1/2” spacer block would be much appreciated, as stacking 6-7 of these things ruins the look of such a nice chassis. Lastly, do I need to order longer screws to use more than the included four spacers? Or do the included screws accommodate?

You have to order longer ones. I made my own spacer since I didn't like the look of 8 spacers. You'll need a 3" set of screws to do 8 plates. I bought these, but you don't have to go with 316: https://www.mcmaster.com/92185A998/ (10-32 Thread Size, 3" Long, Partially Threaded)

Thank you for the feedback, and honestly, LOP is an interesting thing; we've had huge feedback to reduce it as much as possible, and likely going forward, 12.5" will become standard for all of our chassis systems when possible. The spacer block could be a thing in the future for sure, and you will need longer 10-32 screws for your desired LOP.

Whoa, that's crazy. Do the PRS guys all want short LOPs for all the tactical operations they're doing? I'm surprised you get that feedback on hunting stocks like the HNT26, though. I can't run anything lower than a 14.5", and most people I know of average height run 13.5-14.5 for hunting stocks, but the PRS folks are a different breed. I wonder if there will be a large spike in ulnar neuropathy in the coming 3-5 years, hah.
It reminds me of the 'new school of thought' with AR15s with everyone running LOPs that are fitting of babies since apparently everyone is running around with level 9000 plates in chest rigs all the time.
Yeah 12.5” is short. Like built for kids stock short. 13.5” is the minimum for most hunters I know, and most are sitting in the 14” range. Even with all included spacers, this wouldn’t fit a huge portion if not majority of hunters in NA, which is a problem. There’s a significant difference between a hunting vs a gamer chassis. Like I said, this is definitely an oversight and really my biggest personal gripe with an otherwise awesome chassis.
Most hunters have very ill fitting stocks that are not conducive to positional shooting.
It really depends what “positional shooting” means to you. I’m prone off a bipod or off a tripod for most LR hunting, and offhand or off a tree or rock or something, and I’ve never once wanted a shorter LOP. I’m not transitioning from barricade to tire to swing to whatever In 2 minutes when out hunting. If i was constantly moving positions in short periods of time, and especially if I was wearing a thick set of chest gear, it would probably be a different situation, but neither of those make sense for the types of hunting I engage in, nor any I’ve seen. I’m clearly not everyone, but I’ve never encountered the types of shooting I’d expect extremely short LOPs making sense for. Even hog hunting here is primarily done from a fixed position (when not in a helicopter…)
Maybe wide open spaces, but thick timber/Midwest hunting you run into anything from prone to kneeling off sticks, sitting shooting off your knee, on tree branches sitting, standing, off fence posts/gates, tree stands, box blinds, etc.

just because the average hunters 30-06 has a 14" LOP doesnt mean that's what would be best. these chassis give you the option to run short. and that's an advantage
Not arguing having options is bad, just that the options should include most use cases, not one specific one. I fully acknowledge and understand short LOPs will make sense for some, and your examples are fair.
Clearly (from responses and feedback MDT alluded to) there is a need for a lower minimum LOP. My concern Is we already don’t get enough spacers to go beyond 13.5”, and if it were limited to 12.5” it would be even worse for the other scenario in which you aren’t shooting in all kinds of scenarios requiring challenging setups with compromised fundamentals where a short LOP helps make the best of the situation. We would need better solutions to increase LOP than 12 1/4” plates like would be required with the current situation. I was already bothered enough by 8 to design something solid; 12 would be pretty wild.
The problem here, with this stock, is it’s not quick adjust so you can’t change it as you change positions rapidly, so you really do have to set it up for whatever situation you’re going to be in. If you could just grab a lever and go from 12.5-14.5 quickly it’d be great for everyone, but that would compromise on weight based on the typical adjustable designs.
Thank you for enlightening me to the different situations people are running into. I do a lot of shooting from brush/rocks/stumps/tripods up and down hills/etc and have never needed a short LOP to shoot comfortably, but I am also a 14.75” LOP by traditional measure, and don’t wear anything over my shoulder pockets or chest, so I may be an outlier.
I'm curious as to what is the max barrel profile these with accommodate? I'm looking at which carbon 6 barrel profile to go with and leaning towards a 20" in either their magnum or bull profiles.

Even the heaviest profile should fit with ease. Here’s a pic of mine. Its a sendero lite and measures .950 at the end of the handguard.
If I went with the bull profile it would be about 1.1" at the end of the handguard. I think that would look pretty slick.
@MDT_OFFICIAL i had a question - if one has a HNT26 with a fixed stock, can it be changed out to a folder? If so what is needed and what is the cost?
When I contacted them about it I was basically told eventually we might offer one but definitely not until we can keep up with the current demand as is
