MDT Oryx Chassis

The Mossberg MVP .223 will use Ar15 magazines :) We use a standard AR mag latching system, so the factory magazines, as well as the huge amount of aftermarket magazines, should all latch in just fine!

just being a fan that is not 6' ~ can you update us on the progress for the ACC LOP reduction?? I don't mind being the ginny pig :)

I had the Howa Oryx in 6 Creedmoor out on Sunday, stretching the legs a little. It hurts a bit that I have to send it back soon because it's just incredible how good this rifle and chassis combo is for under a $1,000.

We strive to provide the best possible experience!

So about the PRS Discount, (sorry, I browsed your post history and couldn't find a post really detailing this and want to be sure)

I have yet to shoot a match or sign up.

Is the process to sign up for either a Pro or Regional series membership, get a number, and then send my profile to MDT support with what I want?

Do I have to shoot a match first? LSS-RF eligible?

Many Thanks.

As long as you are signed up and have a membership number, you qualify for the discount. Yes, once you have signed up message us through our support portal and provide us with the profile and we can supply you the discount code. Please note, this only applies for MDT products and not Oryx. No, you don't have to shoot a match, and yes, the LSS-RF is eligible.

Doesn't want to flop over upside down then? That is the issue when you put a QD on the bottom. Because there is a lot more aluminum at the end there too preferably put in a flush cup.
Nah it's not trying to flip over on me. I think either the side or the front would work fine. The barrel rides high enough and the channel has so much room that I don't think there's even a remote chance of barrel contact if you put a flush cup in the side

Just placed order for an Oryx Chassis for my Savage MK2 .22 LR, should be perfect to replace crappy factory stock. Does anyone know what grips fit this chassis?
Comes with a grip already; however, any AR-15 grip without beavertail will do. I run our vertical grip on mine; it's awesome!

What’s the probability of seeing an LSS (either size) for a Howa mini with a fixed interface? Leaning towards an Oryx because I dislike looking at buffer tubes (and stock adaptors) on a bolt action.

There are no plans at this time, however, you can always run a carbine to fixed stock adapter and a fixed buttstock.

Unfortunately, the look displeases me. With the folder it’s not as bad, buuut yeah, a bit of a cobbling together of two expensive components. Probably get the LSS and run a carbine stock as is lighter than the Oryx. Not sure why I even care what it looks like though, it’s for the SO.

Fair enough, we do provide the option should someone want it.

I have a Howa Mini in a MDT Brownells BRN-1 with the MDT Skeleton stock. I don't think it's that bad.

Ok, it’s not nearly as offensive as I thought it would be, but LOP is too long with the adapter. Will be going with a LSS+carbine unless I decide I might want to steal it from the wife and play around with it in production (would have to run the oryx to mimic a factory rifle.)

I have a possible dumb question. I have TC compass in 7mm rem mag. I assume we would run the factory mag correct?
Any chance of seeing a version of the Oryx for the Ruger American AR mag rifles?

We only offer a short action chassis for the TC Compass at this time which will not fit your 7MM Remington Magnum version. However, make sure to leave a request on the Oryx website. Also, there are no plans to offer a Ruger American AR version to the Oryx lineup; however, we do have the LSS-XL Gen 2 available for your rifle.

I was aware of the LSS-XL Gen2; it's simply that once I put a stock on that chassis, it's like 50-100% more than the Oryx. I very much liked the idea of a spending $400 and having a usable chassis. Ah well.

That is true. but keep in mind it is built for standard AR-15 parts so if you would like to install an entry-level stock there is a lot of choices!

Sorry if I missed it in this thread... I have ordered a Howa 1500 in 6mm Creedmoor and the Oryx stock. I handload and would like to get a magazine with lots of COAL room so I can load long if need be; I'll be using larger bullets like the 110gr SMK.

I know this takes AICS magazines, but which tend to accommodate longer COAL or can be windowed?

Thanks
