The post office can verify the money order on the spot even if they cant cash it. Send the item while you are there and deposit afterwards.

I'm a Fox Mulder fan: Trust no one. That includes the geniuses at the PO. Cash in hand or clear my bank. I pass the PO daily.

That seller wasted your time. The post office can verify USPS MO on the spot, he then can mail the item you purchased and he can deposit the money order in his bank. My post office would never have the cash to pay out.

What you can do, is use the money order at the post office to buy another money order and then go deposit that money order.

Much like you do with a cashier's check at the bank. Go to the bank, use that cashier's check to buy another check.

It gives you pretty good security.

So here's my question... if you are specifically asking people to NOT leave comments in the PayPal comments section because you don't want them mentioning firearms or firearms-related things, then you obviously know PayPal will shut down anything related to guns, so you obviously know it is against their ToS.......

First off.... don't bother with the David Hogg style "asking for a friend" BS.....

I take great pride in finding any way I can to stick it to the SJW Technocrats and the big business payment conglomerates.
If their TOS claims to hate your rights, I say it's twice as important to stick it to them as hard as you can.
Even with a "free" transfer, PayPal is still making big bank from all the money they are given basically for free, to float for a day or two.

Once you have the original USPS MO, it's as good as cash. A check deposited into your account isn't yours for much longer than you think. Just because it clears, does not mean that check isn't being recalled and cancelled by the check writer.

I'd suggest if you have any questions about the buyer, you make sure to either cash it at the post office first, or use it to buy a new money order yourself from the post office then go deposit that one.

Until you have seen checks unclear like a month later, you won't understand how much leeway the banks have in doing what they want.
If you haven't seen them bounce a bunch of smaller checks that were already paid out so they could pay a bigger one and get more check bounce fees, you haven't understood the maximizing fee racket.

Just like most who have direct deposit for their paychecks setup have no idea that the "paycheck company" can go drain your bank account at any moment and you are stuck out of money till you fight it in court and maybe get some money back, maybe not if the guys that took your money go under.

I have dealt with a lot of account holder initiated fraud over the years and have learned that you should never ever trust any promise by some corporation to "protect you," in letting you keep the money. It's a flip of the coin as to if they will keep their promise or not. They often side with the fraudster, especially if they can stick it to you with fees for them having to rip you off.

A personal check is risky. That I agree with you as you really never know if it clears or not.

That's why you should insure items sent to people you don't know, especially if they're high dollar. PO will have the actual weight of whatever it was that you sent. And then we're back to defrauding the mail service.

It takes 10 business days for a check/money order to truly clear. When your bank makes your funds available, they are actually loaning you the money until the actual check clears which is about 10 business days. Anytime before that, your money is subject to withdrawal from the bank if the check is not good.

WARNING: All forms of bank checks and money orders (except USPS) can be cancelled.

WARNING: Paypal is anti gun and if a gun related transfer has a problem and they find out it was related to guns, they will lock your account for many months. I don't understand why any gun person would do business with them.

US Postal money orders are the only money order that can not be cancelled, but they can be counterfeited. While not perfect, it is the safest money transfer other than cash.

I like paypal, it's just faster and I don't use it for actual firearms so they can't prove what I'm buying or selling isn't for airsoft or some other shit completely off label. Now if you wanna send MO or check, I'll take it. If you send personal, you will be waiting until it clears before I ship. If you send cashier or postal, I'll ship same day.

You can return both a USPS MO and a cashier check... But unless you have the check/MO and the receipt, I think you have to wait until the check/MO expires. I know there's some period of wait, at least with USPS MO's.

yes, if you send money to someone with venmo you have zero recourse of getting your money back other than a chargeback

You can do direct bank deposits, and those aren't reversible either.

CC offers good protection they've done chargebacks for me before. Thing about paypal is that it offers another layer.

I sold a buddy some mags and ammo the other day. He didn’t have cash on hand so he sent PayPal for the “Clips and Ammo” now they’ve locked my account.
They have a resolution center where you attach a pic/doc to explain yourself. Don’t think I’ll be able to talk my way out of this one, so I’m contemplating my exit response...something along the lines of F Off Commies! or similar.
Guess it’s time to research alternate payment methods.

I bought a razor from a guy on here and used Venmo only to find out it was a scam. I had to file a police report and do a chargeback to get my money back. I imagine if I didn’t have the police report files I may have not gotten a refund with the chargeback.

I've often wondered why people would ever send a personal check. You're sending that person printed information about your routing number, bank account number, name and address. Do people realize what can be done when you have these items of person information?

USPS MO is the same as cash as long as it's legit. The buyer brings cash or debit card (can't be CC) to the PO and they charge them whatever the price they want on the MO + a small processing fee. Once the buyer gets the MO in the mail they should take it to PO and verify it's legit then it's just like having the cash worth that amount. MO's never expire either. Once verified by the PO you can cash it there (if the PO has enough bills on hand) or take it to your bank to have cashed or deposited into your account. MO in my opinion is one of the safest routes. I don't send anything until I can at least verify the MO is legit. Once verified legit send items. I don't deal with personal checks, too many ways to get screwed down the road like said above.

I loathe the USPS Money Order process. I’m not making a separate trip to deal with the post office to pay for an item, I don’t have time for that. I use PayPal all the time, F&F so they really aren’t making any money off of it beyond a day’s interest. In addition to the fees for protection, I noticed they are also charging fees to use a credit card. I used to do the credit card through PayPal so I’d have Citibank to go after.

I recent got scammed for $120 on here with a Zelle payment, I’m out the money with no recourse, would’ve been the same PayPal F&F. As much as it sucks to get scammed, over the years I’ve saved more than $120 on USPS MO fees and postage using an electronic payment.

I've only had an issue with PayPal 1 time and that was because I used the Friends and Family and the guy never mailed me the fuel pump. It did eventually get resolved but it took a few months paypal told me if I would have done the regular payment they would have refunded me right away. I will still use FF for small amounts but anything over 100 bucks or so and I just pay the small 3% fee.

One thing I did notice specific to this site is some guys require you to add 4%? I get it 1% is whatever in most cases but paypal is just as nice for the seller as the buyer no need to mark up the fee.
