So I ordered a $600 package last week and it was scheduled for delivery by ups on Friday.

It says that's the package was delivered and left at my front door, but no such package exists. I get ups packages multiple times a week, so I was very surprised. I called ups and they said they would investigate and get back to me withing weeks. I pressed the issue so they got the local hub to call me.

The lady was very nice and told me she is getting in touch with the driver. She calls me back and tells me it's "someone filling in" and he can't even begin to remember what the house looked like, since it's not his normal route. Right....

She said she will tell my regular ups guy on Monday and he will try to look for the package and they will get back to me.

It was too late and a Friday, to reach midway. Anyone know what midway will do about this when I call on monday...

I'm not worried that one way or another I will EVENTUALLY get either a refund or replacement goods. I just don't have the time to wait around weeks for it to be resolved. I need the stuff by end of next week for sure.

    Any suggestions?

I ran into this before with Midway, they will tell you that you must wait 15 days if I remember correctly before they will do anything about it. I just ordered the items from someone else and had the original package returned to sender when it finally showed up.

What do you mean by "when it finally showed up"... Mine isn't going to finally show up, it already says delivered... The issue is one of theft from the driver or delivering it to the wrong house.

Mine was lost in transit but I'm betting they will wait for UPS to try to find it just in case it was delivered to the wrong house. There are still some good people that will return the package if it was delivered to their house by mistake, some will call ups to have it picked up rather than just bringing it to you. I know I have had a fair amount of packages left on my porch that weren't mine, it was usually a case of dyslexia.

Unless you actually have some honest neighbors who read the address on the box and know it is not for them and bring it to you. I have had that happen a couple of times due to new UPS drivers.

Well I I checked the porches (from the street) of everyone on my small quite street, and it's already been 2 days since Friday... So if the person was returning it, I'm guessing it would be on my porch by now....

I had to wait two business weeks before Midway resent my order. This allowed for the USPS (in my case) due time to search for it. My order was no where close to $600 though.

Any high cost Items, fedex or UPS, I call the second I get a waybill and have them "hold at station" and go pick it up. Does not help with this situation, but if they resend via UPS.

I'm with Starz, have a little faith? Remember, you're the only one with any sense of emergency here. Once I ordered a high dollar Surefire weapon light, got the delivery notice, went apeshit, another one came, 3 weeks later a little old lady dropped the first one by, she'd been busy!
After all my pissing and moaning, you can probably figure out what I did.

I really hope you get this resolved, and since you are dealing with Midway and UPS you should. I had an issue with USPS a few months ago. I ordered a few shirts from a company, they delivered them very promptly, however after the tracking showed delivered, I had no package. It turns out that the shipping label had the wrong address on it(This part was my fault since I fat thumbed my address on my phone when I placed the order while out of town for work) and was only a few numbers off, making it only a few houses away, except that address does not exist. So I was willing to accept that I made a mistake, at which point the package should have been returned to the sender. USPS told me that they talked to the driver, and he said he delivered it to my house, and that I should make a claim for a lost or stolen package. After I made the claim with USPS, it was denied because their tracking showed it as delivered. After I started my appeal to the denied claim a women came by the house and had my package. It just so happened that when the package was delivered to her (on the other side of my 400+ house neighborhood) she was just leaving to go to the airport, and did not even look at the label since she was expecting something in the mail. After she got back a few weeks later she realized that she had my package and looked my name up in the neighborhood directory.

In the end I basically got a lesson on USPS claims service, which goes like this:
First, if you do not have a receipt, then you are SOL, so if you ever send something to a friend, you better have a receipt.
Second, it really does not matter if you have the receipt, it is your word versus theirs, and their word will always win.

Don't get me wrong. I totally get that it will be worked out. I paid with a credit card, so that's not my concern. I also don't blame midway, if they ask me to wait some time for ups to finish an investigation. Totally reasonable from a business stand point.

My issue is that if I wanted it in 3 weeks, that's when I would have ordered it. If I had time to wait, I would have taken other cheaper routes.

I'll probably just end up reordering it and if first one comes around I'll return it.

I'm glad it worked out for you.

That's why if I ever send anything important, I require direct signsture confirmation. Otherwise, when I buy anything from a merchant, I always pay with credit card... Don't forget you can always do a charge back and you will win.

The only person that loses is the merchant... Which sucks, believe me I now, since I'm a merchant myself. But the risk just has be incorporated into the cost of the product, sort of speak. Unfortunately it won't ever change as long as humans are handling the shipping side of things.

The reason I would have not gone down that road is it would have screwed the merchant, and since part of it was my fault I was willing to take part of the blame. My issue came when USPS said they delivered it to an address that does not even exist.
