Is one system used more?
I understand the difference & leaning towards mildot since my brain “thinks” in inches & yards for distance.

Think angles instead of distances.

A milliradian is an angle, equal to the radius of of a circle wrapped around the outer edge of a circle. A milliradian is 1/1000th of a radian. There are about 6.2832 radians in a circle. So, there are 6283.2 milliradians in a circle.

A minute of angle (moa) is 1/60th of a degree. So, if there are 360 degrees in a circle, there are 21,600 minutes of angle in a circle.

If you prefer thinking in terms of distance rather than angles, youll always be trying to figure out what the distance is between the two radials of an angle, which varies with the distance from the vertex.

Its doable, just way harder.

But, if a man is insistant on thinking in terms of distance rather than angle, he would likely find MOA graduations a little easier to work out the subtension (distance between radials) within an angle.

Mil Dots and MRAD are the same exact things, Mil Dots are older and no longer used as much'

You have multiple options to use in terms of units of Adjustment,

MOA - Minute of Angle

Mils or MRAD - Milliradians

IPHY - Inches per Hundred Yards or Shooter MOA

The design of the reticle can be dots, hash marks, etc

Mils, MRAD, even CM marked scopes are all the same

TMOA - True MOA
SMOA - Shooter MOA or a rounded version of MOA

Utimate they do the same job with very slight pros and cons for each.
Provided your turrets, reticle and ballistic data are the same it doesn't matter.
