Am looking at buying one, what do you guys think of yours? I was looking at the target model. Is their any upgrades you would recommend after I have shot it awhile. I cant do the tac sol barrels because they arent legal in the shithole state I live in.

Re: mkIII 22/45 question

I love mine, my daughter does too. I like the interchangeability of the grips and feel, especially when teaching newer shooters.

1st thing I did was had a buddy who is a pretty good pistol smith get rid of the mag disconnect and fix the mag catch. The factory mags would hang on the internals and not release freely.

The stock trigger needs work but isn't horrible. Other than that is a very neat gun. A lot of fun to do dot drills with.

Re: mkIII 22/45 question

thanks for the responses, I meant illegal, changed my post. Its because its threaded. Illegal to have threaded pistol barrels in ca (unless it comes to ca with a permanently attached brake/compensator etc). Dont ask me the reason why, all I know is it is because all threaded pistols are automatically capable of killing thousand of puppies and children instantaneously. They great minds in our legislature have taken it upon themselves to protect us from such horrific atrocities. Sarcasm off

Re: mkIII 22/45 question

Two things: One, the RP (replaceable grip) model isn't on the handgun roster so its only available as a FTF if you can find one. Two, the upper is the registered component of a 22/45 so it has to be on the handgun roster. Tac Sol does not have "approved" uppers that are on the roster so again its only available via FTF, if you can find one.

That said, the 22/45 is a great little pistol. My mistake was buying one then hanging out on Rimfirecentral.com. There are tons of mods to be done if you like to make it even better. The thread valise pointed out above is a great place to start.

Re: mkIII 22/45 question

They are VERY accurate and reliable. Just pay attention when you take it apart. 1st time putting it back together is fun! It has to be done in a specific manner. Once you figure that out, it's not bad.
