I used to love ufc. The way they make the fight cards pisses me off though. So much so, i quit watching. Fuck it. Rhonda rousey as an example...gave her the belt, then fed her softball opponents for the longest time. The way the matches are determined turns me off to the whole thing.
I don't know that Rhonda was fed meatballs. I just don't think that women's MMA, in the UFC, was that deep at the time. The talent wasn't there and that is why she was so dominant. She fought the best they had at he time Zingano, Tate, and such. But she was just leaps ahead of them. She wouldn't hold a candle to Schevchenko and of course she couldn't make it very far against Nunes. And most of the fighters she defended against are gone. Women's MMA just evolved to fast, Rhonda could not evolve, nor could alot of those earlier fighters.
I agree that the match ups are made for money, not as a product of rankings. But that is the problem we have where the promotional agency runs the rankings, the fights, the fighters.....they put making their shareholders money above who we might determine who earned the shot. I despise "running back" title fights.

miesha damn near took rhonda, and all rhonda did was run from her after that fight. wouldn’t give her a rematch. When HH kicked her across her sniveling little face, that was pure fucking gold.

Too bad Covington is such a cringe caricature, he is a good fighter and a tough SOB, but hard to look past his theatrics. Peter Yan is a beast though. Amanda didn't look as dominant, if anything it looked like she was exposed some. Alex vs Holloway was a good fight, Volkanavski just went in more prepared with a better game plan, also his cardio is fucking amazing. I don't think he took a breath through his mouth until round 5. Oh yea and Aldina is scary........

The queen is eating cake and the contender is sharpening her knives.

Don't dislocate your shoulder by patting yourself on the back when you get that submission in training. There will ALWAYS be someone stronger/faster/younger/better looking/more talented looking to break your elbow.

Yeah I agree. Adesanya s takedown defense looks like it's still improving too. Yoel essentially never using his wrestling is the most unexplainable thing in the ufc. The only reason I can think of and has been talked about before is fear of gassing out.
