G'morning my brothers, I am a retired Veteran and I served from 88-05 in the USMC as a sniper/counter sniper 2/5 echoe. I am here for multiple reasons..One is to introduce myself, so hello and Orrah to all my veteran brothers.
Secondly and most importantly I am sad to bring some bad news about our fallen brother former Seal Team 3 member Chris Kyle. As most of you may know, Chris was world reknowned for his book "American Sniper"but to us he was more than just a successful author, he was true marksman and compatriot in arms.
Tragically Chris was shot and killed yesterday alledly by Eddie Ray Routh of Lancaster Texas while at a shooting range in Rough Creek Lodge Tx.
It is my personally sworn oath to warn all veterans, current,retired and otherwise to keep your heads on a swivel. We veterans, especially snipers,demolition and special forces in our background have been designated as domestic terrorist and targeted by DHS and those who empower them.
There have been orders by black Op to take down retired veteran snipers,squibbers and spec force personnel.
This is no conspiracy theory and I am praying for all of you to heed this post and to keep your heads on a swivel.. If you are already aware of all the bullshit that is going on then I need not say anymore.
I pray for Chris'soul and his family to find peace. This is another sorrowful day for yet another fallen brother in a time of WAR on our own doorstep.

Sorry for the late response, but currently there isn't anywhere public to shoot out that far. Although there is talk of a public range in Bemidji being built, they have the land now they need the funds. In talking with the organizers, it looks like the long range will be the last to be built, as they're trying to get the buildings and parking lots done before they do much with the ranges...

I think it's time to start a serious effort to legalize suppressor ownership here in MN.
I'm aware that the current make up of our state government isn't ideal for this. If we take an honest look at the situation, it might take a year or two of grassroots action before we're even ready to introduce a bill, anyways. Simply finding a Republican with the guts to introduce a bill isn't going to work. There's work to be done on the ground first.
The fact that we can't own suppressors here is an absolute load of shit. There is little to no evidence to suggest that they pose any threat to public safety. One might argue that they could be used as a tool for poaching. I'd be interested in your thoughts on that.
I've mailed a donation to GOCRA and asked for their guidance and support. I encourage you guys to do the same.

Agreed. No reason to not allow the law abiding to own. A sell point would be extra revenue generated for the state in permit fees. I would be interested in helping to start a letter of intent that includes, among other things

I haven't given much thought to the police chiefs ass., but I can see the DNR as being a major opponent of this if we try to include big game hunting.
I don't need anyone to tell me how badly tinnitus sucks. I have it. I can't remember what it was like to enjoy a moment of utter silence.
I think the key is in the safety for avoiding hearing impairment. It would be nice to get some MD's on board stating that it will help reduce hearing loss. On another note anyone around Duluth wanna sling some lead?

Yeah i'm waiting on the corn to come down, I can shoot 300yds right out my front door but that gets old real quick. I'm waiting on the Princeton shoots to start back up this winter, haven't been over there for a few years but i'm going to be able to make it this winter.

anyone know of a good gunsmith anywhere between bemidji and grand forks? Long range rifles is what I am interested in.
They do a fun match 1 Sunday a month where you shoot from 100-500yds on both bullseye and animal targets. Its a lot of fun for both beginners and more advanced shooters. There's lots of info on it somewhere in this thread.
As for a good riflesmith the only guy I use is located in ogilvie he's not computer savvy but does top notch work and has built some record setting benchrest rifles. If you want his info shoot me a pm.

Does anyone know if antelope come accross into MN often? My brother just spotted one about 5 miles east of Crookston today. First time I heard of them being this far East. And does anyone know if we can shoot them? The hunting regulation doesnt mention Antelope, would I be right to assume to treat them like coyotes? No license, no season, no bag limit.
You'd be in very big trouble because they are a big game species, though not native to mn, there is no season on them here and are therefore a no shoot critter. Call the dnr they'll tell you they aren't here and you can't shoot them ( just like they told me when I called about the wolf on my trail cam a few years ago) idiots.
Just like a law I read about in new york. It is illegal to shoot at a lochness monster in new york, but the official infor states they do not exist.

Yep we were in 24. We also did some hunting in 23. It really helps to know the land. I have a buddy who is a surveyor in Gillette and he would take us around, he knows exactly where the property lines are and who the land belongs to. He even took us out to shoot some prairie dogs when we where out there.
I thought I'd post to this thread. I'm interest in connecting, hunting, shooting. Just recently got back into precision shooting (Army Infantry Desert Storm vet) and am currently building / tuning a .308 gas gun; a JP of course, I have to support my local businesses. I've been corresponding with some people from the FRPC regarding their Joe's and Pro's shoot (steel out to 600).

Gunstop in Excelsior, but that is in the cities Metro. If you ever do get to the Cities stop by the Gunstop, it is two stores in one. Gun store and a Reloading store. The reloading is run by John, he has an answern and recommendation, to every reloading question there is. You just have to get used to his sense of humor. A must stop for reloaders.
Is owner John back to the shop yet? He had a massive heart attack a few months back and haven't been down there for a while. I do know that in his absence fat John has been running things and if you think owner John's sense of humor is good you're in for a treat..laffin'

Stiller Tac-30AW, 26" Brux 1-8" twist #5 Chambered in 6mm Super LR, JP AMCS Chassis, fed by 10rd Double stack-single feed Alpha type 1 mags.
Barrel is starting to come around at about 25rds fired the fouling has all but stopped, shot my first 300yd group with it today with some leftover ammo from another rifle I had in this chambering and managed about a 2" group (didn't measure) I think it would've been better but the wind was varying from 0 to 18mph very quickly.
hopefully with some load development it'll improve as my single shot 6SLR was pretty consistent in the .8-1.2" range @ 300.

Looks good Slayer. I helped a friend of mine put together a 6SLR. It's an easy round to live with.
Thanks, this is my second one. The first was built on a savage target action and although it was a performer I'm not a big fan of single shots. I took two antelope in Wyoming a couple weeks ago with the other one and the round performed great with a 105vld. Took the first one at 280ish and the next at 520yds. Both were DRT.

anybod know who has Berger VLD's .30 cal. 210 grain in stock in the Twin cities or between the Twin Cities and Fargo? Looking to get atleast 50 ct.
I'd check scheels and guns n gear store in St. Cloud. Only two that I know stock bergers out that way.
