Just got my email with the dates of the Princeton matches.

The die is cast and the dates will be:

December 15th
January 5th
January 26th
February 16th
March 9th
March 30
April 13th

If a shoot is postponed due to weather, it will be held the following Sunday. If that doesn't work due to weather then it is cancelled. Watch your email the days preceding a shoot if the forecast is looking like crap

The cost is dependent upon how many shooters show up (the more show the cheaper it is) but somewhere around $20-$30 start time is 9am but its good to show up a half hour or so early to help set up targets and stuff.

There is a heated trailer out there to warm up in and pop and pizza is included in the match fee.

Hope that helps

Did a little spot and stalk tonight on my corn field as it was just cut this afternoon.

Held out untill the last minutes of light in hopes of getting a mature buck but he evaded me again.. Took this doe with about ten minutes of legal shooting left.

I used my 700 7mmRM with Vortex Viper HS LR 4-16x44, 150gr Federal Fusion

Here she is in position for a texas heart shot lol

I waited for her to go broadside at a lasered 224yds and took the shot, she made it twenty or so yards before she fell just off the edge of the field. Upon inspection of the wound cavity I found that the 150gr Federal Fusion bullet failed miserably, it made it into the rib cage then fragmented and didn't exit the other side. Part of the jacket decided to wreak havoc in her guts so dressing her out was fun. Needless to say I will not be using that bullet again.

Pics of the wound cavity-

All in all it was a fun season with lots of action, only sat one evening without seeing a deer. Now to get some blood on the new Savage ML-II Smokeless Muzzleloader in a couple weeks

Hey guys, new to the forums, and rifles for that matter. Just thought I would check out the local threads. Currently planning my first rifle purchase for next spring.

On that note, anyone have any suggestions for local ranges and distances they offer? Saw that Gopher Rifle and Revolver has 1000 yards not far out of the cities. Any members active on the forum? Tried looking for a decent list of ranges, but most don't list the distances without a fair amount of digging. Looking to become a member somewhere.

Also, anyone know of any decent shops/gunsmiths? Would like to chat in person with some knowledgable folks before purchasing my rifle. Haven't had any luck at the big nationals(Gander,Dick's Cabela's), even Bill's in CP seemed a little clueless regarding LRP. Any suggestions here would be a HUGE help!

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer!

I as well am looking for a place to shoot (learn to shoot) long range and good people to shoot with, learn with and from. I am currently located in St Cloud and have been un-successful thus far locating a good range and good people to shoot with.
I consider myself a newb and would like to one day shoot in F-Class type and tactical Bolt action type shooting matches for fun :) Not sure if there is much of a crowd with the same interest in the area? Boltergeist, Hopefully some activity in this thread will attract some attention and get us moving in the right direction!

Anybody near Brainerd/Baxter shoot long range? I've got steel out to 1060 yards, been shooting long range for two years now and still can't find anyone to shoot with. PM me if you wanna come shoot image.jpg
Sorry for the small pic but if you zoom in you can see my white steel on the distant hillside.

Anyone else get an email from GOCRA concerning a new push for suppressors? Think I'll scrounge up a few bucks and send it in as a thanks.

Not familiar with GOCRA and I am definitely interested in a push for suppressors, and reciprocity of CCW with ND as a second item I would like to see brought up. NV also should become legal here. Coyotes beware if this could happen.

jrassy,

They're a group here in Mn. I joined up after the Newtown bullshit and the push for dumbass laws that followed it. I don't regret joining.

I'm tired of my friends from the Dakotas looking at me like I'm a frickin caveman every time I pull the trigger. Let me buy a can and save the little bit of hearing I have left.

Last November, I met and shot with some of the guys that shoot in this. I will be doing some of it this year for sure. This page has some info but no current schedule: http://mesabiweapons.com/index.htm Click on events. I heard that a match is planned for March 25th at Gopher, but not sure if it's the same group putting it on. I think it is but not sure.

Is anyone here doing the Rush Lake Range match on the 15th? I'm considering it as I'll be real close to there Easter Weekend. And the wife is even okay with it!
Sounds like the newbies, such as myself, are partnered with someone that has competed in matches like this before.
SO, I'd like to try it out, but don't want to hold people back either as this is a team event. Seeing as I only shot out to 600yds somewhat comfortably, on my home range (bench/prone only) with no time limits...and running a BDL set up. Am I going to piss dudes off???

Man did i miss out! I wish i would have checked back to this thread sooner! Rush lake is an awesome range and i would have loved to shot a match out there!
If there is another way to see matches in MN and the bordering states without Facebook I'd love to know. If not i may just have to brake down and get on Facebook.

Servo,
RLR is having a shoot on the 21st. Going to be like the BWRS match the day before but for the guys who couldn't get in. So not really a match, but should be fun.
Send Aaron an email or call him to see about getting signed up for that.
