Is it possible to put together a rifle that feeds 4" COAL from a magazine in a Remington 700 action? If not, what action can I use? Do I have to step all the way up to .408 Cheytac type components to do this?

I have a 700 BDL in .338 RUM I'm handloading 300 grain pills into, and the COAL is 3.93". I would love to use those without having to work single shot style. I may sell this one and do a ground up custom. So far as I've seen the magazines offered through 3rd parties can't reach that far, and I'm not even sure the action itself is up to the task. Anybody had any experience here? Especially you 338 edge builders.

You can easily get .125" more out of a BDL. If you are at 3.93" now, 4" should be no prob. Just cut the back of the box out and weld on an extension. It will require milling the box recess in the rec. back as well as the bolt stop. Could be done with a dremel. Done it many times to a short action.
