Saw Miculek shoot a damn birthday balloon with one at 270+yds.
Holding it upside down and firing with his pinky at that. I thought my 5 of 7 .357's standing at 300m (I THINK one handed, off hand on hip, but not sure) into a military silhouette was cool until I saw that.
My top favorites are two, I have to separate the revolver from the pistol they just feel so different to me. For the pistol, the most fun HAS to be the Smith 1006 10mm. Easily the most powerful "standard" size pistol. Slings 180gr. slugs at 1350fps. no problem, lot like a semi .41mag. Fun to load for, just a blast. But I own three tens, so it has more to do with calibre --but the 1006 is the best 10mm there is if you ask me. By far the strongest standard size pistol frame, really overbuilt.
For revolver, my 6" 686+ no lock takes the cake. I've been told by the wife, of all people, that that one cannot ever be sold (but she's a revolver head, she carries a 649). I got it for $250 btw. Best trigger I've ever felt on a revolver, SA it feels like pressing the button on a new DVD player! DA, smooth as butter.
For me, the more accurate it is, but with a lot of bang, makes it more fun. If it ain't accurate, I lose interest very fast.
Oh, the G17L is a LOT of fun too. Damn accurate for a Glock, I shot my very first IDPA match with one and came in well over the half way mark out of 30+ shooters. I point shot half of it, the barrel is so long it is like a 9mm rifle almost.
It would be prudent to mention I have all of these, but I tend to keep the ones I like. Now the one I HATE the most, that has to be the Smith 317 aluminum snub .22. I can't hit a can at 20ft. with it. Nobody can. But hey, the wife likes it. It's a revolver.
I really want a 329PD, now THAT looks like a blast. Something about powerful handguns that weigh less than two pounds get me going.
But an integral Mk3 is on the horizon, the wife wants it too, and I bet that will be the best one bar none once we get it, simply because I'll be able to shoot it anytime of the day or night in the backyard without disturbing neighbors. And I LOVE shooting cans and bottle caps with pistols, and having little matches in my backyard will be a lot of fun for sure.
What a hard question!
