FD makes us do an annual physical every year. This year will be the 18th time I've had one, and it has never changed. I've got the timing down to where my test results are better than reality. Doc says "well, you have bionic hearing". Cool, see you next year.

Member the vision test on "Space Cowboy's"?

Bionic? I thought you firemen generally only liked women?

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Cheers,

Sirhr

I am hearing a continues beep the last couple of years, does that comply?
No sir if it is continuous it is not a beep. It is a ringing or possibly an alarm. May need your head examined??. Wait maybe not ringing. Does it sound like a telephone?? Its ok probably just an alarm of some kind. No need to worry about it

There has to be an amazing story behind that photo.... Bren gun? And a Garand? U.S. Helmets with Navy logos?

I did a Google search and that shows Ardennes, 1944. Navy personnel (at the time, stewards and stevadores???) rushed into fill holes in the lines?

This has to have an amazing story behind it....

Thanks for posting. I am intrigued!

Hahahahaha that brings back frustrating memories. You're trying to focus so intently, you can actually hear your neck creak and your heart beating, did a mouse fart door?... then some computerized asshole voice chimes in at Volume ELEVEN:
"You are pressing the button when there is no tone..."

Thanks, Dick. Now I'm fucking deaf for the next 3-minutes. Problem solved.

During my retirement physical, the med type opened the door and asked if I was pressing the buttons. I told her I hadn't heard anything yet.

She was cuffed behind the back also ??
That is true. She was cuffed behind the back. She obviously moved her hands from her back to the front.

That may be indicative of some other yet-to-be-discovered talents she may possess.

The fact that she wasn't put in the back seat behind the cage/Plexiglas window is what escapes me.

If you look closely, I think you will notice that the seaman on the right (holding the rifle) is, in fact, holding an 03 Springfield. The sights are wrong for a Garand. (Not wanting to be a horse's hind-part, I just went back and looked after you made your post.

There is nothing more embarrassing than to shake the hand of a male and it feel like your shaking the hand of a 12 year old girl. I was taught that you shook hands with a man like he's your enemy and you shake the hands of a lady like you're leading her to bed.
What about when you shake hands with a dude and it feels like he handed you a dead fish? Meh!

AND THAT B 17 G, WOW, LOVE TO RIDE THAT IN NOSE GUNNER POSITION.
About 10 years ago at republic air port on long island they had a 17 and a 24.
Giving 30 min flights.
I chose the 17 of course.
It was insane.
Bombardier
Tail gun
To turret
Side 50’s
And the popped the dorsal hatch/window so we could put our heads out.

Beautiful day as well.

So knowing there is a lot of bullshit on the web. I had to look it up.

Actual words.

To each of my Nephews, William Augustine Washington, George Lewis, George Steptoe Washington, Bushrod Washington and Samuel Washington, I give one of the Swords or Cutteaux of which I may die possessed; and they are to chuse in the order they are named. These Swords are accompanied with an injunction not to unsheath them for the purpose of shedding blood, except it be for self defence, or in defence of their Country and its rights; and in the latter case, to keep them unsheathed, and prefer falling with them in their hands, to the relinquishment thereof. (28)

foot note 28 says:

William Augustine Washington was the son of George Washington’s half brother Augustine; George Steptoe Washington was the son of his brother Samuel; George Lewis was the son of his sister Betty Washington Lewis; Bushrod was the son of his brother John Augustine Washington; and Samuel was the son of his brother Charles Washington. In the inventory of the contents of the house at Mount Vernon in 1800, the appraisers listed “7 Swords & 1 blade,” which they valued as a whole at $120. The sword chosen by Samuel Washington was presented in 1843 to the U.S. Congress by his son Samuel T. Washington. At the time of the presentation the sword was described as “a plain couteau, or hangar, with a green hilt and silver guard. On the upper ward of the scabbard is engraven ‘J. Bailey, Fish Kill.’ It is accompanied by a buckskin belt, which is secured by a silver buckle and clasp, whereon are engraved the letters ‘G.W.’ and the figures ‘1757.’ These are all of the plainest workmanship, but substantial . . .” (Prussing, Estate of George Washington, 416, 481).

Entire will.

I used to have “Up Front” and read it many times. I still remember most of the cartoons.
Great story, thanks.
If you are ever in Oklahoma City visit the 45th Division museum. They have a whole section dedicated to him. They also have a large number of small arms from territory days through VN and a very nice military vehicle exhibit.

Price is right also. Free.
