The lead/graphite pencil electrical short issue was real.
In my first job out of college I was a space suit tech, then engineer. We did some cooperative work with Russian space agency folks back in the 90s and they confirmed issues with capsule contamination-related electrical failures due to foreign debris including graphite.

Very cool.....it’s a quaint little village now, I can’t imagine how quaint it was back then....(y)(y)(y)
Truth to tell, at 16 we were more interested in the fastest run, cutest girls, and best bar (there being no drinking age limit). But I remember that it was a pretty town.
The school (built in 1902 and the alma mater of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry) has been torn down (except for the classroom building which still has the really slippery marble floor). Couldn't even recognize the train station when we got off, and the two big department stores were gone. It was kind of a painful visit. On the plus side, the ice cream vendor was still in the central plaza, and he still had the best hazelnut ice cream.

Cheers,
Richard

"The two big department stores" ?........Wow ! Not doubting your word......It's just that theres no indication of anything like them ever having been around....

Oops. Probably should have mentioned that the school was in Fribourg, not Les Diablerets.
I know. Be away for 35 years and they change everything. ;) One was on Perolles (the road to town from the school) and was called "Grand Magasin." The other was at the end and called "Trois Tours" for the three towers around the town (which still was a walled city from the 1600s).
