If that little girl belongs to that GSD, God help the adult that tries to mess with her. When our son was little, about her size, our first GSD would get in between the kids in the yard if he felt they were getting too rough. If basketballs or kick balls were involved and things got heated, he would just grab the ball a pop it. Game over. Freaked out the bus driver one morning when he tried to load-up on the bus with the kids. After all, they were his. I miss him to this day.

Doesn't make it true... I served with guys of all races, and for the most part we got along. What mattered to us was if you were an asshole or not. However I believe Chuck used a semi-auto that night. By chance as much as anything, that is what they brought with them. It had a starlight scope and he shot at the white glows 16 times. He and his spotter were tasked with a portion of the perimeter of where the troops had set up camp. Chuck reasoned that this spot was the best place for someone to cross, and set up relatively close by.
After taking out the 16 who started to cross the river, Chuck and his spotter quickly left their position, and all hell broke loose. The other VC opened up with machine guns and everything they had, fortunately Chuck was a few seconds ahead of them.

Ahh. Now I see. I dug through the links. He used a night scope on an M14. And practiced shooting at a pack of cards at 50 yards. The link above has it all wrong. For the actual ambush, he sat in a cutout. And the enemy scout did not do his job and poke around on the other side.

He head shot 16 then they retreated. You could not ask for a more perfect situation with the River still high.
it’s a shame that he did not have a radio and a fire base in support to drop a flare and then pound the other side. I bet the NVA battalion was all lined up like ducks on the other side. His Company commander should have been screaming for artillery.

The album Blue Drops of Rain came out shortly after SRV died. It’s a good album.
