Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

It would be fine if they actually posted pics of cool cars. Hint hint to them.
A Crap-illac I restored some time ago.
Not fond of them, but it came out OK I guess....

I'm not an "in the know" guy when it comes to the finer points of race engines. But........

Is/was it common to use galvanized pipe and fittings and non-safety wired Castle Nuts on them ?:eek:
Not a lot of rules back in those days. The galvanized pipes you see are the vents for the water jacket. They are mounted where the water pump would normally mount. Some guys filled the blocks and heads with concrete when they did away with the cooling system. It was not uncommon to see concrete blocks racing into the late 70's early 80's.

That is when racing was racing.
You built your own shit, at home, on your own or maybe with a buddy.

Now these clowns call up a chassis shop to build the chassis.
Call up Proline and order an engine.
Call up Rossler and order a trans.
etc etc
And then pay someone to build it for them, then pay someone else to tune it.
3 guys on a crew to do simple maintenance between runs.
Then they have the nads to say that racing is very difficult and not many can do it.

Racing ain't racing no-mo.
