Now that's the only logical reason to drive an EV, you've decided that it's cheaper to operate. No silly save the planet feel good emotion.
Sorry, I missed this, I was at the range working on some loads.
yeah I’m not really sure I buy the Teslas are that much more carbon neutral than anything else. I know that they’ve been working hard to try to achieve that, but I have no idea where they actually are at this point.
I will tell you that compared to other EV manufacturers Tesla is doing a pretty great job… let’s be honest, the other car manufacturers did not even want to compete in the space. So they were left behind the eight ball…
I think the Europeans will probably catch up at some point and I’m really not sure where the rest of the US auto manufacturers are.
The Chevy volt was an initial foray into seeing how they could develop a car… But Chevy never really pushed the whole thing or embraced it in anything other than an attempt to make everybody feel good that they were working on a EV car.
Tesla on the other hand has 1 million units out there and they are way more advanced than most other manufacturers in the EV space.
I do note that there is a shit load of disinformation related to problems versus no problems, or the standard quoting of fringe cases in order to prove a point for people who don’t like the concept of an electric vehicle.
For me it’s pretty straightforward: it’s cheaper to operate (no gas, no oil, check the brakes yearly, and change the battery coolant every 100k) and it’s got 500HP and ~500ftlbs of torque. It makes no noise and never draws the attention of the police. (which is especially useful when someone with a muscle car decides they want to raise you and you beat the living crap out of them… and the cops go after them!)
Additionally, it’s got a boatload of features that you don’t see on many cars. Then there is always, like it or not, the auto pilot feature that literally drives the car for you. Yeah there’s some bullshit out there about that as well… Mostly with people who have unrealistic expectations and figure that they can go to sleep in their car as opposed to actually have to pay the fucking attention that operating a vehicle requires.
