And married to Kevin Kline for... how long? Almost 30 years?

Lucky dude.

She is one of those women who will age with class and grace.... Though I always like Jennifer Jason Leigh better (cuter) in Fast Times. And in her best role, by far, in the movie Rush. If you have not seen it, you are missing out. Clapton Soundtrack. Amazing flick.

The actual issue with Thalidomide was not that it caused birth defects. But it blocked morning sickness and, in the process, blocked the normal miscarriages that occurred with severe deformations... that the human body was designed for. In severe abnormalities, misscarriage was a natural phenomena. Thalidomide blocked that at the same time as it blocked morning sickness. Without that natural reaction to forming abnormalities, the kids were birthed....

The whole drug issue changed the way the USA looked at drug approvals. And is a large part of why approvals take so long and trials, etc. are so inefficient. Thus why drug prices are so high. Thalidomide is ground zero for a FUBAR FDA process.

Well, at least I don't have flippers....

Britain had banned it, but when submitted to FDA it sat in the queue for so long it got temporary approval, that was the downfall. It interfered with limb development and resulted in the deformities we see today. Pretty sad on FDA's part.
