Texas law says we don't have to show our LTC, but I still do anyway. The officer instantly knows you're not a felon. Every time "Do you have your firearm with you?""Any weapons in the car?"
"No."
"Why not? It's dangerous out there!"
He can see both my hands and I point straight down at my waist and say "It is in a holster right there."
Almost every time, the reply is "Good, if you don't pull yours, I won't pull mine."
Yes sir.
I was leaving my farm years ago (before I lived on it). A trooper pulled me over for a tail light out on my trailer. That same pistol conversation occurred. And then he said "Are you a LaRue Tactical fan?" I pointed at the LR-308 that was muzzle down, and leaning on the passenger seat. I said "that's just a DPMS, much more affordable than a LaRue. It does a fine job of killing hogs in the sounders." He said "I get it, nothing wrong with that. I'll be back with a warning."
