Triple Bull- is that you in the rock climbing pics?

No. I took the photos. I have some photos of me climbing in UT, CO, NV, but I should dig up some cute climber chick pics instead.

BTW, up in post 23180, that's on the crux pitch of the Mace, near Sedona. One of the wilder desert tower climbs. I'll go look for a shot of the whole tower.

Triple, that picture of the Diamond is awesome. My favorite bivy ever is right at the bottom of the north face looking over the diamond. The view at sunrise is pretty swell.

For those of you who don't know, the Diamond is the east face of Longs Peak, the commanding 14,256 ft peak that presides over the Estes Park valley and that part of Rocky Mountain National Park. Its a helluva hike, better climb or mountaineering day. The Diamond is home to many tough climbs, the easiest 5.10a for the crux pitch......

powdahound76, I used to climb a good bit, but when you tell me the easiest climb is 10a, I’d have to pass. I could lead a little into the 10s, but if that is scary when that is the easiest climb on the mountain.

Thanks Powdahound76! The original is a montage of 21MB images - 3 rows that are each 5 wide, so it's about 40' wide by 28' tall at 72dpi. I have not gotten around to printing it at that size yet - I am waiting to print at 10' x 7', 300dpi, cha ching!. I shot this from the upper South Face of Mt. Lady Washington after my son and I bivied there, a thing we've done a few times.

I've seen that sunrise you're talking about from Chasm View and agree. If you're getting ready to rap down to climb the Diamond, it can be a bit sphincter-tightening. I've typically approached the Diamond up the North Chimney, which you see in the picture as a narrow finger of snow (Mill's Glacier) splitting the lower part of the wall, near the shadow line. When you step onto that snow finger, you're about 1800' from the top of the Diamond. Long's is a very special place.

Is John Wick about to pull up? :p

Seriously though, awesome collection of photos.

Thanks, Marine PMI. I had a bad knee injury in '07 and while trying to rehab the knee, decided I needed to do some brain therapy because the knee PT wasn't going well, so I spent a bunch of mornings hobbling around Denver, shooting buildings and window reflections. The city is just s different kind of wilderness.

Powdahound76 is referring to the Casual Route, which is meant to be a pun. The 10a pitch is funky and many people think it's sandbag, but they probably do it wrong. Fortunately, the crux move is super well protected and easily aided. The real crux of any Diamond climb is the weather and the conditions.

502, its not the easiest, just the easiest on the Diamond. I had a major thing about climbing it and never did. I have been up Longs by hiking and other climbing routes (north face, keyhole ridge), just not the Diamond.
I started kayaking right around the point I was getting strong enough to start pushing my limits trad climbing and the joys of paddling over a lip of a waterfall and making a perfect line through tough water was even more addicting so most of my time was spent there.
Then I became a dad and have mellowed out. Now I fix stuff around the house and play with kids. A whole lot of fun and way less likely to get me in the ER or dead.

Triple, shoot me a PM if you ever want to shoot or help empty my beer fridge....... I live in Lakewood.

Yea, man... Father Time is undefeated! He kicked my ass six ways to Sunday. And he hasn't let up yet.

There are old climbers and there are bold climbers, but there are no old, bold climbers. I think Joe Brown said that.

Will do.
