A lot of the memes posted here are disinformation from foreign state actors who want to keep us confused and fighting each other.
The Chinese are absolutely part of that crowd.
I’m not happy if anyone is collecting all of my PII, but the USG has all of it because I pay (way too much) taxes. China doesn’t need it (and everything else) off my phone because I’m foolish enough to install TikTok. TikTok made inroads because the left lost their shit over Musk buying Twitter. That’s part of the melt down we’re seeing.
To me, the most concerning part of it: TikTok and foreign state actors have been working overtime to spread disinformation in order to gloss over the issues with what the TikTok apps do…

What are these "issues" you are "concerned" about?
Changing ownership isn’t going to change the issues, because no one reads the terms of agreement, on anything. Right now, in order to register, the user agrees to allow access to to all internet use, browser history, p hoots, texts, postings on all media, tracking of travel, purchases of any kind, on line or in person, all your emails, and essentially anything anytime anywhere, wether logged into their platform or not.
I suppose you can argue that the US Gov, and even other foreign govt are already doing all that, but that is the answer to your question. You bend over, and spread your own cheeks, on social media.

With the amount of hacks that go on daily to large institutions like Insursnce companies and credit cards that get fraud daily, it’s all there anyway.
Do people think that having my social all of a sudden makes the power grid less secure or they can bring down airlines with my pay pal code.
They are going to sell my house from under me? Steal my money insured by the FDIC.
We were hacking phone 20 years ago during the WOT, and magically the world didn’t implode.

I suppose the real question is whether the Chinese Communist Party is a enemy of the US. If we truly believe that, we probably should not allow unfettered data collection down to the keystroke level and manipulative algorithms. An enemy shouldn't be allowed privileges that citizens have constitutionally. Is China a global enemy?
No, they don't. They just react the way they're being trained to react. Critical thinking hinders "progress".
Fear has been the most basic and powerful control lever since time began and people are pummeled with every day from every angle, MSM and .gov being the two most prolific sources.
It infiltrates and influences everything. A lot of the tinfoil threads here are good examples.
