I was tapped to play taps and reveille a while ago in another life because I could play a brass instrument. The feeling of emotion, just playing into the sunset is something I cherish. Call me crazy. It means something extra.
I can't sit and listen to Taps all the way through since my step father's funeral at the National Cemetery in San Bruno CA. I can still remember the lone Marine standing on a hilltop blowing Taps. Makes my eyes leak. You wanna see a fuckered up grown man cry? Ya, like every time I hear it. Means a lot to me. Lotta history with it and memories. Not embarrassed one bit to say it. I well the hell up.
@barneybdb Our possums get drunk and raise hell.
Fort Walton Beach (WTFF) – An oppossum that got drunk on bourbon after breaking into a Florida liquor store had to sober up at a wildlife rescue center.
The possum was found by an employee at the liquor store on November 24.
He was passed out next to a broken and empty bottle of 750ml bottle of Courvoisier cognac, according to usatoday.com. Other news reports had originally said it was bourbon.
The drunken animal was taken to Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge to sober up.

And this is what an opossum typically looks like on an east central Iowa acreage.Opossum vs. Possum
Here’s a tip: Opossums and possums are different animals. Opossums live in North America, while possums live in Australia and other countries.
Both animals are marsupials, but possums are more closely related to kangaroos. But here’s where it gets confusing: in North America, people often shorten opossum to possum when talking about the creatures prowling around the backyard at night. One news source described an animal that you might see “wobbling across your yard at night” or “scurrying down the pavement with a batch of babies clutching onto its back.” What is the name of this beast? Without hesitation, you might exclaim “An opossum!” However, another person might call it a possum. Is there a difference between an opossum and a possum? Yes, there is. They are entirely different animals.
Possum vs. Opossum
In North America, the animal officially called an opossum is a white and gray marsupial of the order Didelphimorphia. English colonists living in Jamestown derived the word from its equivalent in Powhatan, a language spoken by the Virginia Algonquian tribe. Literally, the word means “white dog or beast” in Powhatan. John Smith spelled it “opassum,” but William Strachey spelled it “aposoum.”
Possums, on the other hand, live in Australia, New Guinea, Sulawesi, New Zealand, and China. Their name does derive from opossum. Sir Joseph Banks, a British botanist, thought they looked enough like the American opossum to give them a similar name. However, kangaroos and other Australian marsupials are closer relations than American opossums. Possums belong to the Diprotodontia order.
