The typical NJ Trooper is only afraid of two things... 1) Lawyers; and 2) Feds that can really get them into trouble. They think they're smarter than everyone else (or can intimidate them better).

Now, that said, if you show them a reasonable degree of "politeness/respect" etc. they might just let you off, unless they want something from you. That works mostly with traffic stops, as you saw. Won't work for a Search/Arrest warrant or an ERPO. Remember, they don't want you... they want your guns/ammo.
I lived in New Jersey most of my life.

In general, New Jersey police are usually anti-gun and will do everything they can just not process any of your paperwork when it comes to purchasing them.

I had one guy tell me that no civilian should have a gun. So I looked at him. I said ” tell you what, I’m gonna have my attorney take care of all this paperwork.“ it’s amazing how smoothly things went after that….

Yup. Like I said, "Lawyers" and "Feds." The murder of Carol Bowne is a perfect example of the problem.

That said, there are some pockets of NJ where LE is quite "pro-gun" and supportive. And, as it happens, I lived in one of those pockets. Mostly, they are in the Northwest parts of NJ (Warren/Sussex/Hunterdon. Western Morris counties) and a few down shore. I lived in Warren County for over 25 years. And my municipal CLEO was fantastic and encouraging. He would always "officially" claim the standard "30 day turnaround" for the paperwork. But my initial FPID and set of P2Ps took only 23 of those 30 days. And that's even including the trip through the "County Adjuster's office for the Mental health check, and the NJSP fingerprinting. After that, anytime I needed a new set of P2Ps, it would be only 2 weeks to turn around.

I think the closer you get to the inner cities in NJ (Newark, Camden, New Brunswick, Patterson, etc. ) the more "anti-gun" it gets.

Looks bad, but I hope, and assume that it landed safely and the pilot didn't have a scratch either? These things were actually conceptualized and designed to be the main battle tank of the sky. They can take an awful amount of hits and keep on completing their missions. Armored like a beast and with multiple redundant features so if one part gets damaged, important systems remain functional.

Congrats, you may be in one of NJ's own 2A Sanctuaries. Passaic was the first NJ region to ratify Sanctuary status in 2019 and since then, at least 3 other counties also followed that route. A small step considering NJ's antigun history, but still important nonetheless. NJ was a haven for British Loyalists fleeing from the South during the Revolution because the mountain men of Virginia and North Carolina had been REALLY itching to slaughter them by 1780 thanks in part to the actions of a bloodthirsty psycho called Tarleton. Tory politics controlled New Jersey for much of the 19th century until the 1900s, which was when the Italian Mafia and it's various satellite labor unions and racketeering schemes took over. NJ's political history is just as dirty as downstate and metro NY's. They both have been long standing Democrat power centers, and sometimes that Democrat control was literally enforced at the barrel of a gun held by one or another organized crime entity like Tammany Hall and the Combine, the Chinese Triads, or the Five Families of the Mafia...

I GTFO'ed NJ over 8 yeas ago. I'm in the Tampa Bay, FL area, now.

Did you mean all of Passaic County became a pro 2A Sanctuary? Or just "Passaic Township?" Hard for me to believe the whole county, given Patterson. I know Patterson pretty well. I did some of my PIT field internship out of St. Joseph's Medical Center.

I mean Passaic Township, yes, and a couple of surrounding areas. Paterson would not become Sanctuary unless General George Washington and his Continental troops personally make another visit to convince them to and even then, there might be 1945 Japan level resistance coming from the Democrat aldermen of that city LOL...

The Cameleon was a concept revolver designed by Czechoslovakian ice rink technician Karel Michalek. Michalek had wanted to make his own handgun, but was limited by government restrictions. In 1989, Michalek decided to construct a concept gun out of wood and epoxy resin. Michalek's concept revolver is currently in the possession of the NRA National Firearms Museum collection.+

I guess some people think the police are there to protect them from bad drugs.

It does happen. I've been on ambulance rides where a druggie would try to transfer his "on person" stash to the EMTs in the rig before arriving at the hospital, knowing that he'd be searched by the police upon arrival. Thankfully, we all knew never to accept those "substances," and to call for witnesses outside the ER entrance to observe what the "patient" was trying to do.

Druggies are like that. I recall once when doing PIT time in the field, we came upon a person "unconscious" due to a huge opioid hit. If you see pin point pupils, it's going to be an opioid of some sort. So, we gave him a "Bellevue Cocktail" and emphasized the Narcan.

He came out of it, and immediately wanted to kick off at us.... "WHAT DA F*** YOU DOIN' TO ME MAN? I PAID $350.00 FOR THIS POP!"
