the ice is thawing.... I pounded a london broil 2 days ago, marinated it for 30 hours and grilled last night.....

This is on the "TO DO" list when the wind dies down.....

I have done many variations of these on the Traeger. All good stuff. Surprisingly one of my favorites has been the pizza burger. I know, purists will raise a fit.

THe Traeger does have have some nice points. My buddies Traeger does have a challenge keeping temperature if it's really windy or really cold. I am planning on building a pellet feeder for the grill/smoker that I built.

My latest cooking tool I bought is the Anova sous vide cooker. You basically cook with this, then sear it in the grill or skillet. Steaks are amazing like this.

I was expecting to be motivated...or entertained....

I insulated the back half of the barrel on mine and it helps quite a bit - I have run it in -15 to -20 and it will stay within 10 degrees of set temp (My palette and skills don't allow me to be able to tell a difference in the 10 degree range) . Any colder than that outside and I wuss out. Some people tote them as the be all, end all. I don't think that is true, but they are an entry into the smoking world that is convenient enough for folks to partake without having to be a dedicated aficionado. I have heard great things about sous vide, but haven't been able to bring myself to cook steak in a water bath even though I hear results are great.

Enterprise Rent-a-Car will cease offering discounts to NRA members, it announced late Thursday afternoon.

I travel a lot and rent a lot of cars. Enterprise has always been just about the bottom of the barrel as far as rental cars go. Boycott them. Lots of other choices.

I read an article that said Enterprise, national, Alamo and Hertz all left the NRA so options may be getting fewer.

I use Hertz almost exclusively. If true, I'll be shopping elsewhere. I don't take advantage of the NRA discount (I use my corporate discount for company rentals). So, they're not going to be bending me over a barrel in any way, shape or form.
