I think a good old sheetrock or framing hammer would do the trick.

Then in the business I am currently working in the types of hammers are plentiful.

I was the range safety NCO on the M-2 .50 caliber MG range at Fort McCoy once.

When I arrived on the range, I was instructed to verify all of the weapons were properly placed in the "safety devices" (my words . . . I can't remember their exact words). The "safety devices" consisted of 1/2" round steel U-shaped "loops" driven into the ground. The muzzle end of the barrel was to be placed inside these loops. Of course, this would prevent the muzzle from moving . . . . . . anywhere.

I aimed the weapons by moving the tripods and useing the T&E.

Obviously, the guys were extremely unhappy to realize the .50 caliber range was a "fam fire" only range. Yep, no sighting and shooting at various targets at various ranges. Just sit behind it and hold the butterflies down. On the plus side, I did have them aimed pointed at the 55 gallon drums placed for targets.

With all of that, we still had check-fires when the A-10s came in for their strafing runs. We never could see them, but we could certainly hear them. I suppose they thought the A-10s were in danger of being shot out of the air with four M-2 MGs hobbled to the ground - so we had to stop shooting at the barrels, when they came in.

Yep, I love the M-2 . . . . . . . . but I sure have been on some dorked up ranges.

Unbelievable that a state senator can think this way!

Unfortunately very believable these days. You don't need any qualifications to run for office -- you just need to be able to get enough other morons to vote for you and BAM there are you, fucking shit up for everyone else.

And really, is that any dumber than the shit that comes out of the mouths of half the libtards in the US congress? How about the dumb bastard running for president that advocated the use of "nukes" on gun owners who resisted being disarmed?

The tree is thirsty. It's coming.

Several gunsmiths have been collaborating on the “12 Gauge from Hell” project since at least 2006, maybe even earlier. They use. 50 BMG casings, which they blow out by fireforming to straighten the case, effectively removing the neck and shoulder. Then they use a lathe to turn down the extractor groove and replace it with a screw-on rim that fits 12 gauge chambers.

Think of it as a 4-inch super-magnum. They have to use bolt actions or falling block actions to contain the pressure, which is higher than any normal 12 gauge but still below rifle-cartridge levels.

In a Savage model 210 with a heavy 31 inch barrel, a 750 grain solid lead slug reaches muzzle velocities faster than 2,500fps. A 1 3/4oz projectile. In the stronger falling block rifles, they claim to reach 3,000fps. That would yield ~15,000 ft-lbs of kinetic energy.
A standard AK yields ~1,500.

A .375 H&H magnum firing a 350 grain bullet at 2300fps yields ~4,100.

They used to use something like that in Africa.

They were known as Paradox Guns.

Didn't have that much energy. But a 12Ga firing a solid from a rifled barrel could wallop an elephant off its feet!

Very cool... I might need one of those ;-)

Cheers,

1 3/4 ounce @ 2500 FPS
12,000- 15,000 Ft/ Pounds

That's a lot more than a shotgun
Winchester Super X rifled 12 gauge, 2 3/4" slug from a smoothbore barrel will have around 2,800 foot-pounds of energy at the muzzle

I have no idea what a shotgun does to an elephants brain.... I have never heard of a PH using a shotgun while hunting elephants

I have an 8GA (courtesy Buffalowinter) and it is a cannon! I can't imagine what it would be like with an 8GA solid!

Cheers,
