The 3 Thompsons 21's all have "C" type 100 round drums.

Any idea what the history on the photo is?

Birger Gang, about 1924
The Birger Gang protected their southern Illinois bootlegging territory from competitors and the authorities with a large arsenal of weapons.

Those are some of Al Capone's bootleggers.

BTW, tomorrow (1/17-2020) is the 100th anniversary of the Volstead Act taking effect. Good thing it's Friday, I am going to celebrate with a glass of Smoke Wagon and watch Lawless.

I heard the 100 round drums didnt work that well do to lack of spring tension?
I would imagine you'd really have to crank it. The 50 says 9 to 11 clicks. 9 clicks it's getting tight and is good with 230 grain pills. The drum won't lock the bolt back after the last round, but you feel it wiggle as the spring unwinds after it feeds the last round.
