I regularly put GM alternators on old British sports cars. Try going to the local chain to ask for a two wire GM alternator.
I put one on my 54 ford tractor, from 6 volt pos ground to 12 volt neg ground. That was a fun shopping trip. "I just want a GM alternator" I now tell junior I need one for a 68 camaro.
I wired my light bar on my 2008 Ranger to a floor switch, the kind of dimmer switch we grew up with on the floor. Tried describing what I needed, told junior to give me a dimmer switch for a 66 Chevy pick up.

There was a guy building mustangs like this is polson Montana, they were powered by ford 351 engines IIRC.....
