Hundreds of fourteenth-century coins were discovered in the western Czech Republic, near the Kladruby Monastery, by a couple out for a walk. “As they were walking through the forest, they spotted a few coins, two made of gold and one of silver, lying on the ground,” explained archaeologist Milan Metlička of the Museum of West Bohemia. “They were probably dug up by some forest animals, most likely by wild pigs.” The couple then pulled up a large stone in the ground, found the coin cache, and alerted authorities. The coins include gold ducats bearing the image of Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, Albrecht of Austria, and Rupert of the Palatinate; ducats from the Hanseatic city of Lübeck; more than 300 silver groschen minted in Bohemia; and groschen bearing the image of John of Bohemia, the Duke of Luxembourg. Metlička said the monastery was located on a medieval trade route that connected Prague and Nuremberg, although researchers do not know why the coins might have been hidden.

The fourteenth century was also when the Order of the Knights Templar was dissolved and it's members suffering extreme persecution at the hands of the French king which had sought their audience the most during the Crusades. Some of the Templars, taking a page from their Viking and Norman maritime heritage, sailed the old Norse trade routes to the Americas and settled amongst friendly native tribes. A small portion ended up in Scotland under the protection of Robert The Bruce, whose entire kingdom had been recently excommunicated by the Church. Those Templars would play a key part in helping the Scots deliver a crushing defeat to the forces of the Plantagenet king Edward III and his invading army at Bannockburn, 1314...

However, this only accounts for a MINISCULE portion of the Templars, for their numbers were thousands strong at the peak of their strength. MOST of the truly experienced Templar warriors and bankers headed EAST to the volatile kingdoms of Hungary, Serbia, Wallachia, and Romania, where their populations would be facing a new and highly energetic Muslim threat in the form of the Ottoman Turks, whose war machine showed no signs of stopping since ravaging the Byzantine Empire to shreds. The Templars, who had never absolved from their lifelong oaths as holy warriors for Christendom, gave their allegiances to the eastern princes and would become the financial and military battering ram against the Muslim onslaught. The Order of the Dragon and other military orders which formed in the east at this time, were all of Templar origin and support.

New XP-100 .223 stock is ready to test fire before finishing. Way more fitting work than I expected including having to fabricate/install a new rear take down pillar. Just need to slap a bipod on it and go to the range.

What a magnificent piece. The XP100 platform is superb. Did you make the grip to fire with either hand?
I use a contender .223 ina 14 “ hunter barrel. Jack rabbits, coyotes, and prairie dogs. Also a14 inch in 30/30. For deer.
good luck with this build.

Shot a 100-200yd match with a member that was shooting 14" Contender in .221 Fireball on Sunday...... sub MOA at 200. with a 2-8 Leupold pistol scope. (y)

This is a .223 Varminter a friend purchased new in '86 and has 200-250 rounds through it. Excellent condition and the OEM trigger is a clean 1bl 6ozs from the factory.
The stock is ambidextrous, I bought it so I could mount a bipod as I didn't want to alter the OEM nylon stock that is in 95%+ condition.
I installed a 'spare' 4-12 Leupold VX-II fine duplex on a new EGW base with Warne 501M rings on it. Usage will be target shooting and Oregon sage rat vaporization. Hoping it likes the Berger 52g Flat Base Varmint bullet.

I have the privilege of working on everything as well. Im a chevy guy, my dad was a Chevy guy ( owned all Pontiac cars in the 60's and 70's), my grandpa work at a ford garage for 40 years, never drove one. Anymore I think all the engineers that design these vehicles are right out of college and never turned a wrench in their life. They are all a pain in the ass to work on. I hate emission shit.

If you dad owned Pontiac in the 60's and 70's then he is a Pontiac guy not a Chevy guy.....back then Pontiac was its own deal (for the most part).

I remember going to the parts store and wanting a gasket set for a Pontiac 400, no not a chevy, no you don't need to know if it is a big or small block, all PONTIAC are the same. Idiot tries to give me a gasket set for a small block chevy 400. I had to bring them the valve cover gasket for the engine. Oh you do have a Pontiac. Times like this made you hate small towns with one parts store.

I was told by a guy once that I could make a small fortune with a car like that. I said how's that? He said start with a large one. 😂

This is true as well, after you decide you want something different get ready for a dime on the dollar return, unless you find someone wanting to do the same thing as you, and this does not happen very often. I have sold entire cars for under what the valve train costs.

I currently have my road race car sitting in a trailer, broken back has taken me away from racing and of the 3 other idiots in the US that run the same car, they are all old guys and really not interested in a car that has a $4000 crankshaft....yup you read that correctly.
