Just picked up my M40 built by Eddie Harren. Rifle is built on a period correct six digit serial numbered receiver that has been trued.
The stock which is walnut and finished in Fairtrimmers Military Ox was made by Joel Russo. The stock is aluminum pillar bedded and the receiver has been bedded.
The stock has Wichita sling swivels and a green web sling.
The rifle is topped with a second generation 3x9 Redfield Accu-range scope on a one piece Redfield base and 4 screw rings.
All gunsmith work was done by Eddie Harren.
Pictures will be provided by Joel Russo.

Edited to add that Joel's pic weren't posted prior to my being a smart ass.lol Ummm....I really like. Just gotta appreciate how simple the USMC and Remington decided on for build specific purpose. Thanks for the pics and hope it shoots as good as it looks! Thanks for posting the pics Joel.

Thanks for the compliments. Everyone involved is very pleased as to how it turned out. Rifle is a very close replica. Looking forward to taking it to the range to see what kind of accuracy we can wring out of it.

Re: My Harren/Russo M40

I just came across this tread, beautiful rifle!
Absolutely beautiful, it could fool my young eye at first sight.
Now it just needs to be dragged across the forest for some years and it would look completely "authentic"

.
I just love black steel and oiled walnut.
The guys on the shooting club sometimes joke I am already part of the senior shooters because I don't own any synthetic rifles.

How does it shoot? how does the scope hold up?

Since this tread is a few months old;
Would you be able to post or send some high resolution pictures of your rifle?
I am in the process of building a Remington 700 with the classic m40 lines myself and your rifle is just the perfect example.

Kind regards, Louis

Re: My Harren/Russo M40

Just a thought for the future, but a nice zinc phosphate (Parkerising) rubbed down with Cosmoline after it comes out of the bath will give that nice MILSPEC grey/green matte finish that would look right at home with the rest of the rifle.

That is a very handsome rifle and as described, it ought to shoot well. Time to try to wear the rifling smooth.
